First Aid for Mental Health training in Calderdale.

We don’t expect someone with a broken leg to walk themselves to hospital — so why expect someone in emotional crisis to reach out?

Waiting until someone breaks down is reactive.
Offering connection before they reach that point is proactive.

First Aid for Mental Health and Wellbeing training in Calderdale.

Too often we talk about workplace mental health only in terms of productivity. But people deserve support, respect, and fairness simply because it’s the right thing to do.

What is happening?

Today the HSE have released the statistics regarding Mental Health in the Workplace and a comparison of 2023/24 and 2024/25. The figures are worrying.

Workers suffering from work-related stress, depression or anxiety (new or long-standing)
2023/2024 = 776,000 2024/2025 = 964,000 (+24.23%)

Workers suffering from a new case of work-related stress, depression or anxiety
2023/2024 = 300,000 2024/2025 = 409,000 (+36.33%)

Working days lost due to work-related stress, depression or anxiety 2023/2024 = 16.4 million 2024/2025 = 22.1 million (+34.76%)

Yesterday was spent teaching the same subjects to two completely different audiences. So the delivery had to be adapted.

1st session was with social works, support staff and managers at an organisation in Lancashire.

2nd session was with a village community group in Yorkshire.

Tomorrow we are delivering a regulated course to people from different businesses in our region.

I am not only happy but also very proud to share that I’ve successfully achieved the industry leading EQ-i 2.0 and 360º Practitioner Certification in Emotional Intelligence with Scott Watson.

This globally recognised qualification enables me to support both individuals and teams in organisations to embed emotional intelligence into how they work, lead, collaborate and perform.

I have already successfully applied these insights within my own business organisation, In particularly in exploring how emotional intelligence can proactively help tackle and address the Bystander Effect in First Aid training.
This has real potential to positively impact Cardiac Arrest survival rates, which are disturbingly and horrendously low at 8% in the UK. I’m excited to research and develop understanding of how our communities and businesses can be even safer places with the understanding of Emotional Intelligence in this area.

SEF First Aid Assistance and Flat Stan First are already a multi award winning and my new qualification and understanding can only support trusting clients

A great day at Gladiator Boxing Club, Huddersfield. A loads of coaches, loads of questions, loads of answers and loads of manikins.
Our bespoke course is recognised by England Boxing and we deliver the course nation wide.
