5 things I have found helpful in being a member of this local networking group:

1. Appreciating and learning about other local businesses that I was unaware existed.

2. Learning from business that are completely different to my own, but who are able to share strategies and resources that will benefit my own business.

3. Encouragement, non judgemental advice and insights from people outside of my specific area of expertise, who make me reflect on how I may be able to improve or grow my own business

4. Opportunity to build my own confidence in networking with businesses outside of my professional scope.

5. Being a part of a group of helpful, genuinely interested business owners who want to support other likeminded individuals in creating business and personal development success.

This tree is for the SEN parent/carer support group I run in Bsea. The aim of the group was to create a safe space where parents or carers can talk through issues and be signposted to professional support if required. We've only been running for 7 months but the group has proved to be a valuable local resource. It is peer led...I run it as a parent of a child with SEN, but I'm always happy to talk physio or sensory integration over coffee and we have other parents with lived experience supporting too.

Our tree highlights sensory overwhelm at Christmas, which doesn't just affect children but is common in many of us. The leaflet offers suggestions to help cope...please come and take one. Remember, Christmas doesn't have to to look like the adverts on TV. Christmas dinner could be a bowl of your favourite cereal under a warm blanket or include a trip to the park to escape the chaos of present opening.

Look after your own sensory health this Christmas and make sure you do something YOU enjoy!

14 years ago today I graduated with an MSc in Advanced Clinical Practice (Physiotherapy) following (possibly) the longest MSc in the history of MSc's! This was a post grad' qualification, achieved 14 years after my first physiotherapy graduation. So, blimey...I've been a chartered physiotherapist for over 28 years!

This is all a timely reminder and big dose of encouragement as I reach the middle of the 3rd module of my Sensory Integration training. I wonder if this time next year, Robyn will still come and wear my cap?!?

A lovely weekend at the Brightlingsea Free Music Festival. Leon Stephens (my lovely Tue am physio and also my husband) was volunteering behind the bar most of the weekend, but he was on hand to save my drink when my Festival stool collapsed with all the bopping (!) and then on hand to Salsa with to the Wonder of Stevie!!! The Icing on the cake was meeting a patient who said she'd been dancing...which wasn't possible for them last year.

Thank you BFMF for a wonderful community event. πŸ©΅πŸ’™

When you go away for a break and find your apartment is above a mobility shop and the beach gym is only 10 mins away... Plus there's a musical theatre lift (Thoroughly Modern Millie) in our apartment block. Home from home!

Clinic reopens Thursday 24th July.

Another day of lovely news. I passed module 2 of my sensory integration training! πŸ’ͺπŸ’™πŸ©΅πŸ€πŸ“˜

I'm now 2/3 of the way through my PG Cert and have one more module left to go. Exciting to see where I will take this new area of my practice. It is already feeding into and complementing my nornal physiotherapy practice, but now I'm also exploring other ways this information can help support my neurodiverse clients and those with chronic pain.

Exciting clinic news!

My wonderful husband is going to be running a clinic every Tuesday morning from next week, mainly to give me some protected study time as I continue my PG Cert studies in Sensory Integration. Leon runs our sister physiotherapy clinic in Sudbury, Suffolk and has a wealth of experience, to complement Nicola. To book with Leon, please contact the clinic as usual (it's still Nicola juggling the admin' side) either via email at Brightlingseaphysio@hotmail.com or by leaving a message on the answerphone at 07496 401011 and we will get back to you.
