It was a pleasure to welcome Toby Porter, CEO of Hospice UK, to The Sussex Beacon yesterday. We shared our unique palliative care model supporting people living with HIV, alongside our plans to extend our care to LGBTQ+ patients.

The visit also gave our service users a valuable opportunity to share their experiences, and reflect on the exceptional care they’ve received through The Sussex Beacon's integrated community support over the decades.

While antiretroviral therapy means most people living with HIV have a normal life expectancy, managing long-term health is the next priority. Did you know that people living with HIV are approximately 19 times more likely to be diagnosed with a**l cancer than the general population?

Dr Martyn Wood and the team want to break the taboo. If you notice unusual bleeding, pain, or lumps, don’t wait, visit your clinic. Early diagnosis makes treatment far more effective.

Learn about our latest campaign, how we’re raising awareness of a**l cancer in Cheshire and Merseyside, and read Dr Paul Hine’s latest blog for professional guidance on symptoms here: https://a**lhealth.info/GHTF

We’d like to say a huge thank you to everyone who donated to us in 2025. We received an amazing £8274 in donations, which enabled us to provide expert support to trans, non-binary and intersex community adults in Sussex.

Thank you for your generosity. We couldn’t do what we do without your support.
