Mental Health Awareness Month is focusing this week on Anxiety. This is something we all suffer from time to time. When we don’t know how to cope with our feelings of anxiety, it can get out of control and stop us from doing the things we need or want to do.

Dealing with anxiety can feel an uphill struggle. But there are ways we can manage these tough feelings:
Think about focusing on your breathing, get moving, keep a diary, challenge your thoughts, seek help for financial worries, get out in nature, seek help from friends or professionals to talk about your worries, get quality sleep & rest, or try eating a healthy diet.

Today is World Sleep Day 2022! I see more and more of my clients having issues with good quality sleep. The quality of your sleep can impact not just your physical energy but your mental and emotional health too.

Here are a few suggestions for a better nights sleep:
β€’ Fix a bedtime and an awakening time.
β€’ Say goodnight to your phone/computer/tv at least an hour before bedtime
β€’ If you are in the habit of taking siestas, do not exceed 45 minutes of daytime sleep.
β€’ Avoid excessive alcohol ingestion 4 hours before bedtime
β€’ Avoid caffeine 6 hours before bedtime. This includes coffee, tea and many fizzy drinks, as well as chocolate. Why not try a chamomile tea?
β€’ Avoid heavy, spicy, or sugary foods 4 hours before bedtime. A light snack before bed is fine.
β€’ Exercise regularly, but not right before bed.
β€’ Use comfortable bedding, does your mattress need changing?
β€’ Find a comfortable temperature setting for sleeping and keep the room well ventilated.
β€’ Block out all distracting noise and eliminate as much light as possible.
β€’ Avoid using the bedroom as an office, workroom or recreation room.
β€’ Try diffusing a calming essential oil in the bedroom or using a night-time pillow spray
