You’re on a work call, trying to sound engaged.
Your child’s tapping your arm, asking for a snack.
And somewhere in the background of your brain… you’re remembering you need to buy more fruit, send that email, and oh — did you put the washing in?
High-functioning anxiety loves this moment.
It convinces you that being a good mum means never dropping the ball.
And that being good at your job means never letting your attention drift.
So you try to do it all. At once. Perfectly.
But here’s the truth no one tells you:
Your worth is not measured by how much you can juggle without dropping anything.
You are allowed to pause. You are allowed to choose one thing at a time.
You are allowed to be present for yourself, not just for everyone else.
This summer doesn’t need a split-screen version of you.
It needs the one who can take a breath and just be where they are.
If you’ve been living with the split-screen on, tell me in the comments:
What’s one thing you’d love to do with your full attention this week?
