⚪️ UHSussex Maternity HOMEBIRTH SERVICE (legacy BSUH Maternity)

⚠️ Important announcement ⚠️

Due to the current strain on NHS services during the Covid-19 Pandemic, the UHSussex Maternity Homebirth service, which serves the RSCH and PRH areas will now need to be reviewed daily.

We have not suspended our Homebirth service, but we will have to assess the situation day by day.

We want to prepare you that you may be informed that we cannot safely attend you at home.

We understand that this may be extremely disappointing if you have planned a homebirth. This has been a hard decision for us, but our aim is to keep the service running as much as we can without suspending the service altogether.

We encourage you to call MAU/Triage as planned when you feel your labour may have started, and we will then individually plan with you where we can support you when you are giving birth. If we cannot facilitate a homebirth service at the time you are in established labour and needing Midwifery care, we will ask you to attend labour ward at hospital. This decision has been made with your safety as our absolute priority.

We will do everything we can to support your birth wishes by providing a home from home environment as best we can if you are asked to attend the labour wards.

We will continue to review this daily as our top priority. We appreciate your support and understanding at this extremely challenging time.

Please keep checking for regular updates on the situation.

Thank you

“A massive thank you to the Juniper team. As a first time expectant mother during the pandemic my husband & I were anxious about pregnancy as well as the labour. However, we got lucky that we were taken care by the Juniper team. Chloe was my midwife and I can’t thank her enough for her patience to answer my myriad questions. From the day I met Chloe, I was quite sure that I am in the right hands. She is 10/10 and she knows her job so well. I am her fan for life.

Even-though I didn’t have the labour I was expecting, and it ended up in emergency c-section, I continued to stay calm & composed because of Lynn’s support. She was blessing in a disguise & on 4th Feb, I delivered a beautiful healthy baby boy!

Big thank you to Chloe, Lynn & Juniper team. ❣️❣️

“I wanted to say a huge thank to the Junpier Team for supporting me through my pregnancy and the birth of our little girl Thea. Our midwife Chloe was so supportive and really helped me get over my anxiety of having a bad birth experience like I did with my first. I was worried due to the pandemic that I would not get the birth I wanted, and Chloe really put my mind at ease. Chloe was always quick to respond to my concerns. I also wanted to say a thank you to Chloe’s student midwife Beth. My elective c-section was an amazing experience, and it was great to have a midwife with me that I had met at the “Meet the Midwives” video call.”

Thank you for sharing this with us 💕

One of our recent home birth stories, thank you so much for sharing your experience 💕

“I feel so lucky to have received such brilliant care from the Juniper team. Sam was my midwife antenatally and she gave me so much time and care during my appointments, which I really appreciated. It was lovely seeing the same person every time as well. During my labour I was looked after by Sam and then Dawn, and both were incredible - kind, skilled, reassuring and continuously encouraging. I was able to give birth at home, which I’m not sure I’d have managed without the support of the Juniper team. Immediately after the birth I was looked after by Hannah, who handled everything so calmly and competently when I had to transfer into hospital to have the placenta removed.

Having received such wonderful midwifery care throughout my pregnancy, birth and postnatal period, I now appreciate more than ever the positive and lasting impact of continuity of care”.

You won’t be able to register on the app until you are admitted to hospital or are having your baby (unless your pregnancy has been booked after February 2021).
