❤️ What a heartwarming testimonial to receive from the mother of a child I have been working with over the last few months. It was a joy and a privilege to offer support to this lovely little soul. ✨

Too many children are suffering at the moment. Only this morning a dear friend was telling me about the dire mental health struggles amongst the young people she knows. As a parent myself I know how hard it is to worry about my children and their wellbeing. Which is one of the reasons why many parents and carers find it a huge relief to seek help from outside the family. It’s widening the support circle for everyone involved.

Get in touch if you'd like to speak to me for a (free) consultation about your child and how Yoga Therapy can support them. I work with children from five years old all the way through to young adults. They might be facing , , , , , friendship issues, , an , a school transition, or lots of other things too. I offer a welcoming, safe and contained space in which I share practices and positive coping strategies so that they can explore what is going on for them and learn to self-regulate and feel more at peace in their minds and bodies.

For those of you who might feel uncertain about as a modality, know that I have regular supervision with a Clinical Psychologist and my course is accredited by the British Psychological Society. You can find out more on my website - the link is in my bio. 🙏

An extract from my latest piece for - this one is for and is about how to incorporate more Yoga into our daily lives. Newsflash⚡️- we don’t need to be in expensive leggings or in a swanky studio. We can be at our desks. On the school run. Holding our babies. In bed! The more we thread these practices throughout our lives and really ‘live’ our Yoga the more we feel the benefits.

✨ This nurturing class is for parents of babies and toddlers, and perhaps preschoolers too. This is a place of non-judgment, where little ones are free to snooze, roll around, join in, play, roam (or snack!) while their parent has some time for their own needs. I am here to guide the practice and also incorporate the babies and children when they feel to take part for stretches, snuggles and Oms.

💝 The intention is to create a space where parents can ground and centre themselves while the children begin to experience the soothing of the nervous system that comes with gentle Yoga. Practices include somatic movement, simple breathwork, chanting and relaxation.

😊 , Wednesdays, 10.30-11.30am. Message me to book your space.

~ MOTHER ~ 🌳

This tree.
With her arms spread wide.

There.
In the centre of it all.
Her branches bearing the weight of swings and children who laugh and screech with joy, or need her space, and embrace, and comfort.

There.
In the background. As life plays out.
A place of solace.
Offering shade when it gets too much.
Ever present.
Solid through the seasons and the years and the storms and the sunshine.

Holding. Steadfast.
Her rings, textures and lines increasing with her years.
Unselfconscious.
Unfaltering.

Mother tree.
Inspiring me.

✨ Yoga for Parents ✨ (Babies and young children welcome too) ✨

🔥 Being a parent is demanding on every level of our being - physically, mentally, emotionally. There is joy, and there is also exhaustion and the endless questions of 'Are we getting it right?' 'Should we be doing something differently?' 'When will this get easier?'

❤️‍ This class is created to support you with all of this. We spend a few moments checking in at the beginning so that I can offer practices that meet your needs on the day. Often everyone is tired and what I love more than anything is to offer lots of space to rest. Witnessing mamas in precious moments of stillness in Savasana while babies and children snuggle in, or quietly play while absorbing their mother's peace and tranquility, moves me every time. (I often think these would make great Insta photos but it always feels too sacred to capture, so here's an unrelated photo of me doing Yoga without a baby instead! 😂)

🌸 It is a joy to now be offering Yoga Therapy from this beautiful and lovingly curated space .foundation in Hove. This was the studio this morning, ready to welcome a child for their first Yoga Therapy session.

✋Be in touch if there is a child or teenager in your life who is struggling mentally or emotionally. I am always so happy to talk through what I can offer through Yoga Therapy.

❤️ Working in deep attunement, I share practices and positive coping strategies so that children and teenagers learn to self-regulate and feel more at peace in their minds and bodies. Depending on the child, this might include simple movement, breathing techniques, chanting, mindfulness practices, sensory exploration or visualisations. Some sessions may be very physical and playful, others may be more still and focussed on relaxation. All sessions flow around the needs of the child, in that moment, on that day.

😊 These are practices for self-empowerment that help children find and experience a deep, healing connection to themselves and to others. 🙏

🧡 And another lovely mama just messaged to say: “Thanks so much for the wonderful class, loved it, it was exactly what I’d been hoping for.”

🙏 I am so enjoying getting to know these mamas and their little ones. What a treat to do this work.

Here’s me and my beautiful sister on the most divine two-day retreat. We got back last night and I’m feeling nourished, inspired and energised ✨✨✨✨ and I can’t wait to get back to teaching tomorrow! I’m offering to bring a friend for FREE to my class for mamas at . Message me if you are interested or want to book a space.

One of the things we spoke about this weekend was the damaging rhetoric around self-care that can make it feel like another thing we are failing at. Something else on the to-do list that as mums we can’t always make space for even when we really, really need it and really, really try. We spoke about the Village and about how self-care is most available when others step up and in to help us. I guess in that sense it makes it less self-care and more just CARE! I’d love to care for you tomorrow ❤️❤️❤️

💘 Savasana with holey leggings and a hug on top!

🧘 Is your child too old for Baby Yoga? But you still want a class where you can move your body, be with other mums and centre yourself amongst the beautiful chaos of early motherhood? Then join me at Yoga with Children on Wednesday mornings at in Hangleton!

👶🏼 This class is open to parents and carers with older babies and toddlers. We move together, often chant, almost certainly get sat on, and also find precious moments for stillness and snuggles. By soothing our own nervous systems we offer our children the chance to co-regulate - which is so, so important for all of us in these unsettling times.

🤩 As per the photo above, this is not performative Yoga. This is Yoga with nappy changing breaks, milk stained tops and children crawling on us and underneath us. This is Yoga from the glorious depths of motherhood when what we need is to be held ourselves.

🧚🏻 Message me for more details or to book your space. The class is 10.30-11:30am and costs £10.

💔 No one knows how to be right now. What to do. Everyone is struggling. We want to be useful - to help. We don’t know how. We are giving money. Donations. We are saying prayers. As parents, we are searching for words to explain the inexplicable. We are trying to hold ourselves together so that we can be present and steady for our children. We feel heartbroken. Angry. Grateful. Fearful. Fragmented. I haven’t felt to post on here. Needing time to process.

⚡️I have had moments of feeling totally wired. The amount of meaningful, positive action we can make pales into insignificance in comparison to the amount of devastating information we are imbibing. Just our fingers scrolling.

💝I want to share something that helps me in those moments.

🙏 Sitting or standing with my hands pressed firmly together in prayer, my forearms parallel to the ground. I feel the warmth of the palm of each hand on the other. I feel the lines of my fingerprints. I sometimes feel blood, energy, movement beneath my skin. I feel feedback - my own strength - along my forearms, reminding me, ‘Here I am’. I am not really meditating or praying. I am just allowing myself to be there with myself in that moment. And in doing this there is connection. With myself. With other mothers desperate for peace. Somehow with the whole of humanity. This humble gesture which can signify thanks, love, pleading, a greeting, forgiveness. It feels like a million other people might be doing this right now. How many millions have done it before?

🤕 Right now we must find ways to support ourselves so that we can keep going - for ourselves and for our children. We have the privilege to tend to our bodies, minds, hearts and souls freely, and so we must.

💬Tell me, what little thing is helping you?

🧘‍♀️Practising Yoga with and around our children is very different to our practice when we are in solitude or at an adult class around human beings who don’t jump on our backs mid Downward Dog or ask for more breakfast or want you to tell them the answer to 88 add 88. 😂

💫 But it is so important. For us to find some pockets of connection with ourselves. For us to soothe our nervous systems. For us to stretch and create space in our bodies and minds.

💥 Yes, it’s challenging when they pull us out of focus. These little beings add a whole other layer of distraction, but if we can find a way to be ok with that, to let ourselves be pulled this way and that, just as we are by our thoughts, and still recentre in those in-between moments, then we are gifting ourselves something precious.

🌈 The beautiful thing is that as a by-product of this we are also showing our children one of the ways that we look after ourselves. We are gently leading them to become (or stay) curious about their own bodies and giving them strategies to regulate without having to *tell* them how to do it. They are just soaking it up.

🤗 If you’d like to try a class where you can practise alongside your baby or young child, come join Yoga with Children tomorrow, 10.30-11.30am, at in Hangleton. Spaces are limited so please contact me to book in.

💘 PS. Those little toes behind me! 💘

✨ New class! ✨

🧘‍♂️ Are you longing for Yoga and self-care - but always either with your young child or at work? Are you desperate for some space to soothe your nervous system and connect back into yourself amidst long days of early parenthood? Then this class is for you! 👋

💫 I’m so excited to be starting Yoga with Children at the gorgeous . This is the next step along from Mum & Baby Yoga, a place where crawling babies, toddlers and preschoolers are welcome to join you on (and around!) your mat.

🦋 Practices include somatic movement, simple breath work, chanting and relaxation. Your child might be on your hip, under your Downward Dog, eating a rice cake or jangling a toy near you. There’ll be no judgment - sometimes you’ll be able to join in for it all, others you might spend most of it just cuddling your babe in something Savasana-like! Depending on who is there each week I may weave in some practices the children can join in too. Whatever happens, my intention is you feel seen and held by me and the others in the community we create.

♥️ This class has such a special place in my heart. When my daughter was one and two I used to go to a similar class with the amazing and it nourished me so, so much. It was where I met some of my dearest friends and I would love to think I could offer something similar 🤗

⏰ The first class is next Wednesday 23rd. 10.30-11.30am. £10. Message me to book your place as spaces are limited 🙏
