In just one week, Debbie Pullum and I are climbing Mount Snowdon at night to raise money for a wonderful charity Parenting Mental Health.
They provide essential support to parents who have a child in mental health crisis.
As a group, we’re trying to raise £15,000, which will provide parenting courses for 100 people or 500 hours of community support!
We’re almost there and so grateful for any donations 🙏

Sometimes our goals can feel just like an enormous mountain to climb, but in sessions with me, we identify small manageable steps to achieve your goals. We visualise what that step would look like and how you might go about it.

Being a solution focused therapist means there is no need for me to unpick the past or dig into painful trauma, so sessions are positive and gentle.

🌦️ Ups and downs….

🌧️ Another rainy dog walk this morning, it felt like winter! Yet this afternoon the sun is out and it’s warm here on the south coast.

🌈 These ups and downs of weather reminds me of the ups and downs we have in life.

🌟 I often talk to my clients about how life is like a game of snakes and ladders. Sometimes you get to go up a ladder and you are winning. Yet sometimes you have to slide down the snake and go back a few steps.

💫 Yet it’s important to remember that you never go right back to the start, and eventually you will reach your goals with the right support in place.

💫 Random acts of kindness

🌷This morning, on my dog walk, a man who was clearing weeds from the pavement offered me a beautiful snapdragon plant that he’d pulled up among the weeds.

🌟 I was so touched and grateful for this offering and it really made such positive start to my day. I’m going to nurture that plant and do my best to help it flourish.

✨ Performing acts of kindness increases our sense of gratitude, as we’re in a position to do something selfless for another person. This helps us feel connected and helps us to see the value in our lives. It helps us feel fulfilled and increases our sense of belonging.

❤️ A 2019 study showed a measurable increase in happiness when people performed acts of kindness every day for 7 days. And the amount of happiness correlated to the number of kind acts they showed.

🥰 Kindness not only helps others, but it will have a profound impact on your own mental health too.

💪🏻 Whatever your goal, it’s just as important to be present in the journey towards that goal, as well as being focused on the destination.

🦶 We are more likely to continue new habits and behaviours with repetition , practice and by focusing on small steps that are achievable.

🏃‍♂️ Making change, whether that’s a physical change, mindset shift or behaviour, takes time. It’s usual to experience ‘bumps in the road’, and important to remember that progress is progress, however small.

💫 So keep going, step by step. DM me if you’d like support achieving a new goal or changing a behaviour.

There's so much truth in this quote.

Understanding and getting to know ourselves can take many years, deep insight and acceptance. But when you do, it brings a newfound happiness and freedom.

My job is to help you acknowledge your strengths, to remember what makes you happy, to help you feel more confident and at peace with yourself.

I also teach you about your brain which helps you to understand why you feel the way you feel. Hypnotherapy can help to re-wire any negative beliefs in the most gentle way.

I use a solution focused modality which means that we don't need to unpick the past - we work positively towards your goals and dreams.

🌼 Letting go 🌼

This beautiful tree in my garden is my favourite. It only blooms for a couple of weeks in early summer before it loses its beautiful petals and heady scent, but in that short time it brings me such joy.

As it’s petals start to fall, it got me thinking about letting go. As the summer solstice has passed and we’re entering the second half of the year, what can you release?

It could be
🌸 Unwanted habits
🌺 Negative thoughts
🌷 Social media accounts that drain us
🌻 Certain relationships, or putting boundaries in place
🪷 Perhaps there’s elements of our work or home life that we can outsource to create more time for the things that we enjoy
🌹 Even clearing clutter from our homes can feel cathartic

It’s important to remind ourselves that we cannot always do ALL the things for all the people, all the time. It’s ok to say no sometimes.

Let go of what no longer serves you, make space for joy.
