What a difference alignment makes!

In the first video my shin and heel bones are not in their optimal alignment, which is causing movement restrictions within the feet. By having the bones stacked and in their proper positions all of the bones in my foot have more freedom to move and create a much better shape.

Sometimes we can look like we're doing the right movement, like pronation, but if the bones aren't aligned and moving the way they should then we just won't achieve the shape we want.

This is where a Movement Coach can help. We'll assess your static posture and alignment, and then watch how the bones move as you do. From there we can guide you into better movement patterns, allowing you to move more freely, easily and with less pain.

If you'd like to discuss your movement and alignment, get in touch!

Movement Monday ✨ Thoracic Spine

The thoracic spine sits in the middle of your back, connecting the rib cage, shoulders, lower back and neck. It’s designed to move, in 3 different planes of motion, and plays a big role in how you breathe, reach, twist and support the rest of your body.

When this area moves well, it takes pressure off the neck and lower back and allows the whole body to work more efficiently.

"What do you do?"

I get asked that a lot, along with "Are you a physio" and "Is it like massage or Chiropractic?"

The easy answer is no, I'm not a physio or chiropractor, and the work I do isn't hands on like massage and similar treatments.

Instead, I help people work out any areas in their body that might be out of alignment or that don't move well. I'll then show them movements that can help them, sometimes just in one area and other times whole body movements, literally head to toe.

At times I help guide people into movements, hands on, perhaps guiding a bone in a certain direction, but generally these movements can be done my anyone, any time. No coach needed.

This is why my work is empowering, you get to take charge of your own body. Yes, it involves some practice at home, but you're in control... no more relying on someone else to "fix" you.

If you've got any pain issues or movement limitations, and you'd like to have more of an understanding of your body, send me a message and we can arrange to have a free chat about how I may be able to help.

Spot the difference...

Other than the timing (not sure why I went so fast in the top video), can you see what is different between the two videos? Watch what is going on in the feet.

Pop your observations in the comments and in the next few days I'll pop up what is different and the one thing I changed in order for it to happen.

Movement Monday | The Shoulder

The shoulder isn’t just one joint.
The arm and shoulder blade are designed to move together — and when one stops moving well, the other can pay the price.

In this reel, I’m showing how the shoulder is built and the movements it’s meant to make. For more detail — and simple ways to restore these movements — head to my YouTube channel YB Aligned.

Small movements. Big impact.

Thanks to and .of.motion for the amazing anatomical videos!

Your feet affect your whole body 👣

When the arches drop and the feet flatten, the knees can roll in, the thigh bones follow, and the pelvis can tip forward into an anterior tilt — increasing pressure through the lower back and contributing to pain.

Getting the foot arches to rise and move well can help the legs rotate back out, allowing the pelvis to sit more neutrally, taking strain off the low back.

Sometimes back pain starts in a very different area than you'd think!

When mummy makes you come to work and it's cold 🥶 🤣

There's only one place in my studio/ office Pedro wants to be when the weather is like this, and that's above the radiator.

This morning was extra cold so I wrapped him in his blanket... I think it's safe to say he liked it!

Your ribcage isn’t rigid — it’s designed to move in lots of ways.
It can tilt forward and back, side-bend, rotate, and expand and compress with your breath. When these movements are limited, it often affects the spine, breathing, posture, and even how the neck and pelvis move.

In this video I’m simply showing what the ribcage can do, using visuals from .app.
If you’d like to understand how these movements connect to the spine and breathing — and how to gently bring them back into your body — head over to my YouTube channel for the full breakdown and practices.

Movement happens in more than one direction ✨

Your body moves through three planes of motion — and understanding them can make movement feel clearer, more connected, and more efficient.

This reel explores what that means in a simple, embodied way.

Strong quads need movement 🦵
If your knees don’t bend well, your quads don’t get loaded — and that matters.
Bending the knee is how we build strength, control, and confidence for walking, stairs, squats and everyday life.
No bend = no load.

Move the joint, let the muscles respond.

A lovely testimonial from a recent client ❤️

Often with my work, one of the biggest benefits is helping all the other information and work you’ve already done finally make sense.

Whether that’s from doctors or specialists, physios or chiropractors — you may have been told what’s going on, but not fully understood why, or why it keeps coming back. By looking at your alignment and movement together, noticing the patterns you have and what might be missing, and explaining it in simple, everyday language, things can start to click.

And when you understand what’s happening in your body, awareness grows — and that’s when change becomes much easier.
