Is your alignment affecting your range of motion?

Ideally all parts of your body would be on your central axis when at neutral, so at centre on the dial of 'range of movement'.

However, for lots of us, one or more body parts have shifted away from the central axis either side on, front on or in our rotational plane (and sometimes even all three).

When we're not centred on the dial, it can make moving through a full and fluid range of motion very difficult, we can feel restricted and this can be when compensation patterns develop in the body.

Make sure you watch until the end for an easy alignment hack you can try at home - no equipment required!

In the video I'll also show you an assessment you can use to see if you're in alignment side on. Most of us will have at least one area that is either forward or behind our central axis line.

While this might not be an issue right now, being "off axis" can lead to compensation patterns, tightness, limited movement or even pain down the line (excuse the pun). Bringing the body into optimal alignment will ensure you have the most effortless, effective and enjoyable movement possible well into old age!

If your body has been feeling a bit tight, tired, or out of sync lately… this is your reminder to pause.

Align & Unwind is an afternoon to slow things down, reconnect with your body, and give yourself the space to properly switch off.

Gentle movement.
Breath awareness.
Cacao.
And a deeply restorative sound bath.

People leave feeling lighter, calmer, and more aware of how their body moves and holds itself - with a sense of ease that stays with them afterwards.

Have you ever stopped to notice how you move, sit or stand?

Not how you think you do it, or should do it, but what your body is actually doing?

Alignment and movement awareness is about building that understanding. Noticing patterns, habits, and where your body might be working harder than it needs to.

From there, things can begin to feel simpler, easier, and more natural.

After all, if you aren't aware of something, how can you start to change it?

There's nothing like the feeling of sand under your feet!

My feet feel so alive and connected after a walk on the sand, even better if there are a few waves lapping over my feet too.

We have so many sensory receptors and nerve ending in the feet, but when we keep them wrapped up in socks, shoes and slippers we can start to dull or switch off that sensory feedback.

If you can't get barefoot on the sand or the grass, then barefoot time at home and foot wiping are great to help you feel more connected to your feet.

👣 Your foot has a natural tripod

Big toe knuckle.
Little toe knuckle.
Heel.

When these three points share load, the foot has a wider base to organise movement from.

Sometimes our weight travels more through the middle of the foot, which can make us feel a little less steady.

Nothing is “wrong” — it’s often just a habit the body has adapted to.

Awareness is the first step to change.
