Headed by specialist optometrist Sophie Taylor-West, the Scleral Lens Centre is a specialist contact clinic, with a focus on fitting lenses for those with eye conditions such as keratoconus, corneal graft, post-lasik ectasia, corneal scarring and ocular surface disease. We fit all types of contact lenses including scleral, corneal RGP, soft and hydrid lenses, as well as custom cosmetic lenses. The SLC is located within Taylor-West & Co Optometrists, a boutique optical practice in the heart of Hove. This Eyeprint Pro custom scleral contact lens has a whopping 5 dioptres of horizontal prism lathed into the lens! This patient needs 10 dioptres of prism in total to alleviate their double vision. They thought they would never be able to wear contact lenses, but Eyeprint Pro has given them back their independence from specs for the first time in 20+ years! They get all day comfort with these lenses, as well as perfect vision.

The Scleral Lens Centre is one of only two UK practices trained and accredited to fit and prescribe Eyeprint Pro impression-based scleral contact lenses.

EyePrint Pro lenses are made using a physical mould taken of the entire front of the eye, using a special amalgam which starts as a runny liquid and then quickly sets in the eye, allowing a perfect impression to be taken of the eye. The impression is then scanned to make a 3D model of the eye on a computer, upon which a contact lens can then be designed by hand, to perfect conform to every lump, bump and wrinkle of the eye, to produce a lens which fits like a proverbial glove!

These lenses provide exceptional stability and comfort. And because the fit so accurately, the optical part of the lens can be lathed such that the vision is optimised and aberrations are significantly reduced.
