Your mouth is simply a GREAT BIG HOLE sending COLD, DRY, FAST and DIRTY AIR into our LUNGS!
And there’s NOTHING in between to stop it.
Our brilliant NOSE however does EVERYTHING for our breathing.
It slows, calms and regulates air due to the resistance of the smaller breathing holes... - that's the point of its design!
It warms or cools, and moistens the air before it enters the lungs.
Nose breathing increases oxygen levels in the blood and brain by 10%, which is a REALLY big deal!
Our nose produces nasal nitric oxide which helps to keep lungs healthy and kills harmful germs.
Nose breathing can help asthma suffers to reduce symptoms and attacks.
It can support deeper restorative sleep, and reduce or even stop snoring and other sleep disorders.
It can reduce symptoms of Hay-Fever and other environmental allergens.
During exercise, breathing through the nose increases oxygen delivery to the working muscles, therefore supporting a better performance and quicker recovery.
The mouth does not do any of this!
