With the deepest sadness we write to say that Mike, (our Dad, loving husband to our Mum and exceptional Grandfather to my children) passed away just as the year began.
He is the reason BGHS exists.
Not only in its ethos but in its actual bricks, mortar and fabric. He designed it, built it and is the soul within it. His legacy is known throughout the world with people hearing of the spa from all corners of the globe.
Those who visit every week and those that may not be near, often write to say how it has helped, changed or supported them and how they can always be themselves and be accepted. This is rare in today’s world and almost nonexistent 40 years ago when he decided to be that place for so many people.
It’s unique as was he and it is special as was he and it is deeply loved as was he.
We go forward in 2026 with gratitude that we are family.
