Positive Practice

Positive Practice Positive Practice MAKING THE RIGHT CHOICES Positive practice aims to educate and identify behaviours before dependancy and addiction sets in.

Positive Practice provides schools with bespoke workshops and presentations around substance misuse, alcohol awareness and eating disorders, using a contemporary educational approach. Positive Practice School Training Programs are specifically designed to enhance awareness of the problems surrounding substance misuse and alcohol, while addressing the peer pressure and social influences that engulf young people. We believe that in order to be effective, we need to educate everyone in this process. Pupils receive a better understanding of the legal, physical and psychological risks of drugs and alcohol misuse, allowing them to make informed decisions about the substances they encounter. Parents and teachers are given a better understanding of the legal, physical and psychological risks, and also taught to identify warning signs and the best course of action should any be identified. Positive Practice’s Eating Disorder Programmes are aimed at all three groups, looking at the physical and psychological implications. These workshops are designed to give pupils a better understanding of their emotions and feelings so that they can feel good about who they are and how they look. Positive Practice also provides additional workshops covering areas such as bullying, gun crime, working within boundaries, blood born viruses and more. Positive Practice individually prices its workshops according to the type of workshop, number of candidates, length of workshop and your organization’s budget.

Why call Positive Practice? People call us for many different reasons. They might call for themselves, or for a family member, or for a friend or even a work colleague. Our advice and support relates to the options available for private and non-private addictions treatment. Entering treatment will incur a fee from the clinic for the treatment programme, however, if you are funded by your local drug and alcohol service the treatment will be free but at times the process can take up to 12 weeks to come to fruition. We are able to refer into NHS service and also recommend alternative treatment for you. It clearly indicates just how diverse our services can be. If you are not sure whether residential treatment is the right option, just call us. Every situation and every person is different. We can discuss your individual circumstances and give our assessment for just the price of a phone call, which we can help and support you taking the next step. When calling for a family member, it is important to understand that the person needs to be willing to accept help. We can help you deal with this, as, sometimes, speaking with a third party can help to bring clarity to a situation that has become the subject of so many family arguments. If you just want to find out the options so that you can discuss with your family member, that’s fine too. The important thing is that the cycle will continue to turn until someone takes a step away from it. The most encouraging time is when the person asks for help or asks for support or even call us themselves (or with help) as this demonstrates a real commitment to starting the journey of well being. Change is not easy and your family will also need support. There has been a lot to deal with and often, broken relationships to build too. Our treatment processes include family members in special family programmes, supporting the recovery process, acknowledging what the family has been through and helping to piece the family unit back together again.
