Had a chat with the lovely Kate, founder of Singing Mamas Org this morning. We talk about what a Singing Mamas group is, what to expect when you join, and why you should trust you’ll be completely at ease if you give it a go 💫👏
There are groups all around the country but here at Brighton and Hove we meet weekly during term time on Wednesdays 10:00 - 11:30 at Hove Methodist Church.

Not your traditional choir-look!
Singing in the circle is where it’s at.
Many of our singers walk in looking quite surprised, they’ve built up an image in their minds of a choir -with rows of pews and sheet music, all facing the grand choir leader at the front of the room.
Not at Singing Mamas. Nope!
We gather in a circle, the babes play in the middle (we’re all collectively taking care of the young ones) and they get the BEST spot for hearing the delicious harmonies!
So much of our singing groups are about the COMMUNITY. Yes we sing.. but really what we are practicing each week is self acceptance, non-judgement, appreciation and gratitude, being imperfect, letting go of pressures, meeting new friends, having fun, lightening the heart...
It’s good stuff! And so much more fun when we can see each other! There is no one looking on, it’s not a performance, so it’s all about our own enjoyment!
The hard part is getting through the door when you don’t know what to expect. But our leaders know this.. they are completely prepared to help you into your own courage to walk in, take your seat and gently find your way into your singing voice. No spotlight will ever be on you. We promise!

Eugény is also an award winning aromatherapist, multi-disciplinary massage therapist and crystal healer, and has always been interested in the healing and connective qualities of singing. She practices and teaches from Hove, and Brighton.
🧡When Eugény found out she was pregnant in 2017, she immediately had a yearning for connectivity to a community of women where everyone’s experience and emotion could be shared with each other within the circle. Eugény then stumbled across the Singing Mamas website and she felt 'the connection' she was looking for!

Here is a recap’ of the essentials:
✨ When: tomorrow Wednesday 15th September from 10:00am until 11:30am. Please come a bit earlier to get settled as we’ll begin singing at 10:00am.
✨ Where: Hove Methodist Church on Portland road. Please ring the bell for the church / Narthex at the glass door between Portland road and Saint Patrick street. There is a lift for buggies right on the left as you enter.
✨ Covid measures: the church team has kindly asked us to carry on wearing masks in the communal areas so please have your masks ready upon arrival and remove them once seated only. Thank you. We’ll be seated 1 metre appart from each other and disinfectant gel + wipes will be available for you to use. On that note: 👉 can I please encourage you to take a lateral flow test today or tomorrow before attending the session 👈 This is greatly appreciated, thank you.

✨ Singing Mamas Choir Brighton and Hove is back from the 15th September! ✨
🎶 Who is it for? Welcoming all women (or person identifying as a woman) including new mums with babies, but also pregnant ladies, mums with older children, grandmothers, foster mums and female carers.
🎶 How does that work? 1h of singing in circle followed by half an hour of social time with tea and cake.
🎶 What do we sing? The repertoire is mainly composed of chants, traditional folk songs from different countries and lullabies. Everything is taught by ear and no previous experience in singing is necessary.
🎶 Can I come with my little one? Yes yes yes! That's the concept. The singing is for the adults but the experience is shared together.

Long time no see.
It is hard to update a professional page when when work and news have been so scarce in 2020 🤷♀️
I can’t complain: in many ways 2020 has been kind to me.
I have not worked since March, so the following months have allowed me to refocus on my routine, my health, as well as my home life 💪
More time spent at the allotment or at home, without the simultaneous juggling between work and family dynamics has also allowed me to step out of the hamster wheel and rest in order to heal my chronic health problems (a never ending case of cold - sore throat - loss of voice which had taken hold of me since autumn 2019).
While I decided not to go back to work until the general health situation got under control, you may have seen on this page that I took on creating crystal grids, following my training in crystal healing. I’ve also studied energetic house clearing as well as channeling. These have been eye opening experiences at the far edge of anything I’ve done so far. I am grateful for the opportunities and thinking of a way of integrating these in my menu of services.
Will 2021 see me back to the treatment rooms and the teaching? Well, if all goes well I’ll be back teaching Aromatherapy at Brighton Holistics from February 2021, and I can join back the team of the Tree of Life - Hove whenever I feel the time is right 🙂 So, yes 🙌 🤞
Meanwhile I hope to stay in touch more regularly and wish you all a merry Christmas and a happy new year! 🥳

✨ C O M I N G B A C K T O W O R K ✨
Dear clients, dear friends,
I do apologise for not keeping in touch earlier regarding my return at the treatment centre following the lockdown.
I could see other colleagues and therapists posting on social medias about their excitement in re-opening their doors, and although I understand their enthusiasm, it took me a while to accept I didn't share it, and even longer to find a way to phrase why.
So here we go.
First of all, here is what I said to the well-being centre when they contacted me to ask when I would be ready to go back to work: September, the earliest.
I feel so uncomfortable agreeing to the changes asked from us. I am not discussing their necessity but am concerned about the safety still of our treatments, as well as their quality, for our clients and us, therapists. And what about the impact on our planet?
I can't see myself healthily breathing through a mask during a 1h30 treatment, many times a day. I don't believe a massage treatment through gloves is as efficient as a treatment involving skin to skin contact. I can't see myself genuinely saying to my vulnerable clients that they are 100% safe in an environment where rooms are shared by other therapists and their own clients. I can't see our recycling system efficiently disposing of the unimaginable quantity of waste I'll be producing with my disposable PPE...
For all these reasons (which are in no particular order), I've decided to step back and wait a bit.
I absolutely respect our centres which do their best to offer the safest environment possible by changing their cleaning schedule and appointment times. I equally respect any of my colleague who went back to work, by choice or by necessity, as soon as allowed. But if I listen deep inside myself, I am not ready to come back to work under the actual circumstances.
As you may guess, my work as an Aromatherapy teacher has also been greatly impaired by the recent lockdown, but the school of Brighton Holistics has taken the decision to reschedule our classes from November only, which matches my inner belief that now is too soon...
I trust you understand my views and hope September will find us in a better place.
Meanwhile, I am about to take a summer break from my weekly online choir sessions while beginning co-hosting an outdoors mums and mums to be circle respecting social distancing in Hove park. More on that very soon.

✨ C R Y S T A L G R I D S ✨
Hello lovely people,
I am currently taking commissions for my Crystal grid work.
Not only these grids are pieces of art on their own, but they can also affect how we feel, and our responses to the world around us.
People have been working globally with crystals, gemstones, rocks and minerals for thousands of years, placing them in powerful sacred configurations, alignments and grids around the world (Stonehenge and Avebury stone circles in Wiltshire, The World Peace Crystal Grids placed at North and South Poles, the breastplate of the biblical High Priest...). A grid designed with intent and purpose is believed to build an energetic map that can guide us in the direction of our goals and create real and tangible changes in our lives. Anyone can benefit from it.

✨ T H E S I N G I N G L A D I E S ✨
This morning again one of my ladies attending the choir told me that, for her little one, I am "the singing lady".
Not Eugény. Not the "young mum" or the "french lady". No.
The "singing lady".
The lady who sings.
I am full of gratitude, as always. My only wish would be that there would be more of us. More ladies singing.
Doesn't it say something about how many of us women have forgotten to surround our daily life with tunes and songs coming out from our own bodies, not just the TV or the radio?
Do you hear the calling?
It can begin small, in your own house. You don't have to wait for approval, for your voice to be different or for your family to be out of the house to take the first step.
You just need to dare.
It can begin next friday, 10h30, in front of your computer and in the company of the most enchanting bunch of ladies and little ones I know.

I provide 60 minutes or 90 minutes massage sessions. A 60 minute session is perfect for general relaxation or small projects (stiff neck – sore back…). A 90 minutes sessions is ideal for greater relaxation and larger projects (long term postural issues, chronic muscular pain…)
I practice from a beautiful and airy treatment room in the Tree of Life integrative health centre, 143 – 145 Portland Road, Hove, East sussex, BN3 5QJ. I like the idea that my clients leave their familiar surroundings to meet me in a completely different environment, free from any emotional charge.
My work is integrative and a combination of the techniques I’ve qualified in, studied, and absorbed during my career. It is always based on the needs of my clients and any session is designed in an initial consultation we have together. No surprises and you get a relaxing and effective mix of what you need and have asked for.
I only use organic oils. This is a must for me. And I am not using any pre-blended products. When you come to see me, I am actually blending my oils in front of you, depending on your needs or your skin sensitivity. This is part of your tailor-made massage experience.
I usually work with a musical background… But never against your will ! I’ve handpicked a fine selection of soundscapes to support my practice, and you are free to pick the ambiance which seems right for you on the day. But should you wish to stay in silence, just let me know. I am myself mostly silent when massaging, although some techniques – like trigger pointing – may require me to ask your for your feedback.
I am trained in Holistic, Deep Pressure, Indian Head and Aromatherapy Massage, as well as Pregnancy, Oncology and Manual Lymphatique Drainage Massage. I have certificates in Reflexology, foundation in Advanced Clinical Massage Techniques and Hot stone Fusion. During my career, and following further training, I’ve also been able to incorporate techniques from Thaï massage, Sound Therapy, Energy medicine and Crystal therapy to my sessions, on my clients’ requests.
