Choosing Vials - What to Know! 🤓

We offer a variety of vial types (donor samples!) for different treatment uses. While your best source of information for your personal treatment plan is your healthcare team, we'll help break down the different types we offer.

🧪IUI, or washed vials, are the most common vial type and can be used for all treatment plans.

🧪ICI, or unwashed vials, are less common but can be used for any insemination type. However, a healthcare professional will need to wash these samples before being used in an IUI or IVF procedure.

🧪ART vials are created for advanced IVF procedures. These vials contain much fewer s***m cells than their counterparts, which would not be as effective for all treatment types in a single vial.

🧪ICSI vials are a specialised type of vial with limited number of motile s***m cells created for advanced IVF procedures.

Why does Sussex S***m Bank place birth limits on it's donors?

In 2006 the HFEA (Human Fertilisation and Embryology Authority) introduced a policy in which limits the number of families used by one s***m donor.

This policy states that one donor can be used to create 10 families in the UK.

Our dedicated patient team 👩‍💻 will work directly with you to reserve a Family Slot for your donor of choice, ensuring that your favorite donor is available for the length of your treatment cycle.

All clients are required to purchase a Family Slot to ensure we limit access to the donor specimens and all insemination results need to be reported to us.
