Really interesting study by Collings TJ , Bourne MN , Barrett RS , Meinders E , GONçALVES BAM , Shield AJ , Diamond LE looking into Gluteal Muscle Forces during Hip-Focused Injury Prevention and Rehabilitation Exercises.
Things to note:
1. Side plank has the highest glute med activation out of the exercises tested
2. Split squat had the highest glute max activation when working at 12RM, closely followed by single leg Romanian deadlift and single leg hip thrust.
3. Highest activation for glute min was the side plank and 12RM single leg Romanian deadlift.
