Brighton & Hove STI Testing Week starts today!

You can have an STI and not know it. Testing is quick, easy, free and confidential.

The easiest way to test is to order a free at home test kit from the Brighton & Hove Sexual Health and Contraception Service (SHAC). Testing is free and covers HIV, syphilis, chlamydia and gonorrhoea. Or you can visit Terrence Higgins Trust at 61 Ship Street, Brighton for rapid finger prick tests for HIV and syphilis, and screening for chlamydia and gonorrhoea.

PEP is free through the NHS, but is only given to people who meet guidelines about its use. You may be asked about:

• The person you had s*x with.
• What sort of s*x you had (vaginal, oral or a**l).
• Any medications or recreational drugs you take.

You will not need PEP if the person you had s*x with is living with HIV and has an undetectable viral load, as this means they can't pass on HIV.
