COVID ANNOUNCEMENT

With restrictions set to ease in England from Monday, please continue to adhere to ALL existing Natural Balance Therapies COVID measures.

This means wearing a mask for the duration of your visit (unless you are exempt), sanitising your hands on arrival and completing a Covid screening form 24 hours ahead.

Please cancel your appointment with as much notice as possible if you feel unwell, even with a slight cold or headache.

The waiting room remains closed, so please arrive at your exact appointment time and wait outside for your therapist.

The number of confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Brighton & Hove is still considerably higher than the rate in England as a whole, and nearly double the rate for the rest of the southeast. Not everyone in the city is vaccinated and there are still vulnerable people who could become very unwell if they catch the virus.

As a team of Self Employed therapists, none of us wants to cancel clients and self isolate for 10 days but any interaction with a positive case could result in this. Thanks for understanding and allowing us to continue offering great treatments in a Covid secure way.

Any movement counts!⁣

If you’ve come to see me in clinic, you might have been given some exercises to get on with at home. It’s well known that creating and maintaining a new habit is difficult. So sometimes we need to start small because, actually, any movement counts! Even better if you enjoy it. You can dip in and try my suggestions when you feel ready. But, ultimately, I’ll be happy if you tell me there’s been an increase in movement. ⁣

And to the photo: today was my first run in 2 weeks. Transitioning back to work has thrown my exercise routine out of whack. How did I fit it all in before?! The run was not easy, and it was interspersed with multiple bouts of walking, but I’m learning not to give myself a hard time about that. It all counts!

I’ve been following ’s Breath - a 30 day yoga journey. ⁣

I am following it from day 1-30, but allowing myself some flexibility when needed, so it isn’t always a consecutive day practice. ⁣

Day 16 entitled “Discipline” was an eye opener. Initially I felt a bit disappointed when I realised it would be an entirely seated practice, but by the end I was totally sold. ⁣

Adriene introduced a new breathing technique: breathing ratios. This involved breathing in/out for a number of counts. We started with a 4 second breath in and a 5 sec breath out, building up to an 8 second breath in and out. I’ve not really done much work like this before, and sometimes struggle to take slow deep breaths, but I found having the focus of counting made it much easier for me to slow my breath right down. And, by the end, I felt a powerful stillness. ⁣

This is something I’m definitely going to practice again. If you ever feel like you need to calm your mind or body, I’d really recommend giving it a go. You can find the video for Day 16 on the Yoga With Adriene YouTube channel. ⁣⁣
