This is not news, but brilliant that NICE and Arthritis Action are bringing it into the news agenda today.

All my clients with arthritis know this and come to me because they have active lifestyles and they want to stay that way!

While clinical massage obviously can’t repair the damage to the joint, it can relieve the muscular pain and stiffness associated with arthritis and improve the range of movement in the joint.

If you or someone you know has arthritis and have any questions on how clinical massage can help you, feel free to send me a message or give me a call.

Has ever felt more poignant? I don’t post anything political but as the horrific news from The Ukraine continues, I feel powerless to help.

If you fancy donating to The Red Cross’s Ukraine appeal and receiving a massage in return, or if you have been thinking of booking in and have put it off, here’s a great excuse!

I will be donating all profits from my Friday clinic to The Red Cross Ukraine Appeal.

Still a few slots left. Book in here: https://app.acuityscheduling.com/schedule.php?owner=20710055 🇺🇦 💛 💙 🤲⛑

Let’s talk about stretching. 🧘‍♀️

🧘‍♀️ For many years, I just didn’t bother. Why waste any time in getting down to the activity that I love? 🏄‍♀️ 🏃‍♀️🏋️‍♀️

🧘‍♀️ It took me getting injured to really take stretching before and after excercise seriously. The great news is that I’ve got it down to just five minutes before and after my exercise sessions.

🧘‍♀️ By creating a bespoke stretch routine relevant to your particular areas of tension, you can incorporate stretching quickly and easily into your day, helping to prevent injury and rebalancing your body on a daily basis.
I create these routines for all my clients and aim for under 5 minutes each time.

Feel free to DM me for more info.

Great article in this morning’s Guardian on the return of touch:

“massage helps break down the pain cycle. If someone’s coming in and they are very tense or they’ve got pain, manipulating the tissue doesn’t necessarily make it heal straight away, but it breaks that pain cycle, and the client feels better at the end of the session”

For many people, social distancing and lockdowns left them bereft of physical contact. Here, touch experts explain why it is so essential and what we lost in its absence

I suffered lower back pain for years before being properly diagnosed by an amazing physio.

Now I have learned how to manage it, I rarely have a problem with something I just assumed I would always have to live with.

In my clinic I use a combination of techniques to resolve lower back pain including:

🤲 Deep tissue massage
🤲 Soft tissue release
🤲 Cross fibre friction
🤲 Neuromuscular techniques

In order to:

⛑Release contracted muscle fibres
⛑ Break down adhesions
⛑ increase range of movement and mobility
⛑ Reduce lower back pain

If you have any questions on lower back pain, let me know!

It’s feels that in the last year, we’ve all benefited from nature more than ever. Our respect for its beauty and fragility has grown.

The pandemic and the disposable PPE it has generated for our industry has been devastating.

Obviously my priority has always been the safety of my clients. But I’ve done what I can to make my approach as sustainable as possible.

♻️ My Type II medical grade masks are recyclable.

💚 My single use nitrile gloves are biodegradable.

🍀And I use vegan . Because it gives great grip and control and leaves skin feeling silky.

Happy 🌍 Day! Get out and enjoy our planet 🌳.

🔦Sunday Spotlight🔦

We continue our focus on wellbeing at WRAP this Sunday spotlight by introducing you to the wonderful Hannah Emanuel Sports & Remedial Massage. 👏🏾🌟👏🏼

Hannah will be working out of our dedicated treatment room offering sports and remedial message as well as medical acupuncture treatments. 💆🏿‍♂️

She trained at the London School of Sports and Remedial Massage, graduating with a Level 5 Diploma 🔖 in Soft Tissue Therapy and subsequently completed a Diploma in Medical Acupuncture. 🎓

Hannah told us that she has “always been interested in sports and how the body moves 🏃🏻‍♀️, but it was recovery from injury that led me to a career in Sports & Clinical Massage.

I treat a wide range of clients from those with regular muscular aches and pains from everyday life to rehabilitation from injury, recovery from surgery, pain management for chronic conditions including MS and Osteoarthritis and everything in between.

I love empowering 💫 people with knowledge in the way their body moves and belief that they can repair or improve movement with manual techniques, stretching and strength training.”

We are delighted that Hannah will be joining us at WRAP! 🙌🏾🙌🏻🙌🏿

Motivation to move. How’s yours? Mine has been low. Low mood, low energy, feeling too anxious to focus, I’ll start tomorrow. Lots of moving with the kids and the dog but no regular movement just for me. My shoulders and lower back were suffering. Regular movement is the first thing I prescribe my clients and I wasn’t taking my own advice!

A study published in the British Journal of Health Psychology found that 91% of people who planned their intention to exercise by writing down when and where they would exercise, followed through with it.

So, I tried it yesterday. It was 8:30 before I’d finished with the day’s chaos. I didn’t do the 55minute weight training session I’d planned but I did do a shorter HIIT session. This morning I feel so much better for having started and 91% more motivated to continue! Anyone else tried this?

See you later 2020!

I hope to see you back in the treatment room very soon. For now, as advised by my professional body, The ISRM, I will be remaining closed. As soon as it is safe and legal to do so, I will be booking people in for face to face appointments again.

In the meantime, if you’re in pain or after some advice, please get in touch. I’d love to chat and see how I can help you.

May 2021 bring you all the good things! ❤️🤲

Was this my last outdoor treatment of 2020? Muscle Energy Techniques to tight hamstrings last week.

2020 has not been the year we expected and we’ve had to make things work however we can. Putting client safety and comfort first, adapting to an ever changing situation.

Before this summer, I’d never worked with clients outdoors for full sessions, more for essential repairs at the side of the track and pitch!

Thanks so much to all my clients who have adapted and evolved with me this summer and kept my business going. I’m constantly updating procedures to ensure your safety over everything. ⛑🤲
