It is with great sadness that I cannot currently treat people with acupuncture. I believe it would be very beneficial at such a time, especially where reducing anxiety and fear is concerned.
But I am certainly hoping that both I and the acupuncture profession as a whole can be there to support individual people and help reduce pressure on the NHS service, especially at the point where we start to come out the other side of the Corona Virus and are permitted to work again as practitioners.
This too shall pass and I wish you all the very best. Leigh xx

Frequently I see that women are having issues with their menstrual cycles. Some of these such as PCOS (Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome) Fibroids and Endometriosis can be directly linked to an imbalance of hormones.
Other symptoms around a woman’s cycle such as irregular periods, pain, bloating, feeling emotional, anger and irritability are given less credence although they too are linked to hormones and their fluctuations. Issues tend to increase during the years leading up to menopause. The journey of the peri menopause can slowly start from around the age of 35 as our bodies are always subtly changing.
The medical profession is all too ready to prescribe medication for these symptoms ranging from the contraceptive pill, HRT, anxiety medication and anti depressants as opposed to advising more holistic and natural options.
Acupuncture is a great alternative to this. Acupuncture can help to balance hormones, alongside exploring some simple changes or additions to diet and lifestyle choices.
As a woman going through my own changes, I believe a lot more can be done in the area of informing ourselves and learning about our delicate hormonal cycles, with a hope to naturally eradicate or at least ease some of the unpleasant symptoms we may feel.
With this in mind I shall be attending and am looking forwards to a talk “Balancing Hormones Naturally” this Saturday 29th February in Uckfield given by Dr. Marian Glenville PhD.
Dr. Marian is a leading authority on women’s health.
I am hoping to gather some gems to share with some of you and of course use for myself. Anyone is welcome to attend.

Our Story

Hello. I’m Leigh and I am passionate about acupuncture.

I am interested in supporting people to gain a deeper understanding of their health needs both physical and emotional. Through careful consultation and listening to your story, I will develop a plan of treatment action. I am especially interested in bringing a little calm and balance into busy lives, I truly believe that most health conditions will greatly improve, if approached from a place of feeling more relaxed and being centered.

Acupuncture is a system that has been developed over the last 5,000 years. It continues to grow and expand as a modern from of complementary and non invasive medicine.

I am a fully licenced and registered member of the British Acupuncture Council (BAcC) with a BSc (Hons) Degree in Acupuncture. I have completed extensive Post Graduate training in Ear Acupuncture, Facial Acupuncture, Cupping Therapy, Cancer Rehabilitation and Renewal and am also trained in Swedish Massage. As well as my private practice, I volunteer for the Macmillans Horizon Center in Brighton, where I give treatments to people affected by cancer. I like to bring aspects of Massage and Cupping to my treatments, if and when appropriate. Please take a look at my website to see how both I and acupuncture may help you. https://www.leighmartin.co.uk/
