Can you donate a prize to our Christmas raffle?🎅
We are looking for donations of prizes for our raffle. All money raised will be going to the Southern Hospice Group who support St Barnabas House, Chestnut Tree House and Martlets Hospice. ❤

Transgender Awareness Week 📣
Between the 13th to 19th November is Transgender Awareness Week, this is to help raise awareness and understanding of transgender community including the issues members may face.
This week gives the opportunity for others to educate themselves about who transgender people are, enables the community to share their stories and experiences, and advancing advocacy around issues of prejudice, discrimination, and violence that affect the transgender community.

Each year between November 13 – 19, people and organizations around the country participate in Transgender Awareness Week to help increase understanding about transgender people and the issues members of the community face.

At a time when transgender people have become targets of extreme political discrimination and violence, it’s imperative that anyone who is interested in and invested in protecting a free society learn the facts about who trans people are, become educated about the realities trans people face, and understand that our collective equality is connected to the safety and freedom of people who are transgender.

Today we joined many others in a 2 minute silence in honour to armed forces members who served in World War I.

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:

Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.

At the going down of the sun and in the morning

We will remember them.

Highbury is joining in with Lidl GB Toy Bank Donation in partnership with Neighbourly. We are raising money to buy some toys for children in our local area. If you would like to contribute, please bring any donations to our office by 24th November so we can help this great cause. If you have any wrapped new toys you would like to donate, we can also take these for donation too.

Guy Fawkes Night 🎆
We tested our residents’ Guy Fawkes knowledge with a fun story game and quiz, then celebrated Fireworks Night with sparklers and a delicious lemon drizzle cake made by our chef. Fireworks Night is always better spent in good company! ✨

Today is the final day of Stress Awareness Week 🤯
Today we are sharing how our Manager de-stresses. Chris is Highbury’s Home Manager, she has been with us for over 5 years, and an fundamental part of the home, supporting our team and residents, and has recently helped us achieve our Good CQC and PAMMS rating. She is always on call and as you can imagine a role like this can be quite stressful! To help Chris unwind, she enjoys going to her house in France (pictured below) and listening to her favourite singer Nat King Cole. 🎵
