Making sure people are at the heart of our local health and social services. We’re independent, transparent and accountable and we’re powerful.
We can help you to navigate the health and care system. We go out to talk and listen to people from every part of our community, children, young people and adults about the services they use and what they think about them, so that we can make things better together. We’re a challenging organisation that doesn't ignore poor practice, and aims to help you to turn it into good practice. You can help us get stronger by telling us what’s going on in care services where you live. We're here to listen to what you want, what you like and what you dislike, and feed that information back to the decision makers.

At a time when patient trust in the NHS is sadly at an all-time low, instead of dismantling independence, we believe the government should be strengthening it to ensure that patients have a stronger voice.

We've heard from many people who are concerned that there will no longer be local, independent health and care services representing and supporting patients and service users - something which has existed for over 50 years.
As the new school term begins, Healthwatch in Sussex have a new poll for you to share your thoughts, feelings, and opinions on health and care.
🎉Let us know your views on recent changes to GP surgeries via this short survey: https://buff.ly/1vc6pmD
Changes include telephone call backs, online consultations, and additional roles created e.g. Advanced Practitioners.
Poll closes: 30/09/25. Thanks for taking part!

Support Healthwatch and sign our petition to retain independent services that represent patients in health and social care.
Please share with your friends, families and communities. Once done, remember to go to your email and confirm your signature, otherwise your support will not be counted. Thank you!
Independent representation for patients in health and social care is not a luxury - it is essential.
Our petition is intended to make the government rethink its plans to end this independence - something which has existed for over 50 years. At a time when patient trust in the NHS is sadly at an all-time low, instead of dismantling independence, we should be strengthening it to ensure that patients have a stronger voice.
What does independence achieve?
- public trust.
- transparency, accountability
- a driver for meaningful change.
- scrutiny of services through a patient lens.
- patient-focussed, evidenced-based recommendations to improve services.
We are shocked that these proposals have been made without public consultation. Neither do we believe they are supported.
Please sign our petition and share with your friends, families and communities. And let's work together to design a stronger mechanism for hearing patient voices and one which continues to remain independent.
Once you have signed, please remember to go to your email and confirm your signature, otherwise you're support will not be counted.
Thank you

Healthwatch Brighton and Hove is the independent champion for people who use health and social care services in Brighton and Hove.
Our job is to make sure that those who run local health and care services understand and act on what really matters to people.
We listen to what people tell us they like about services, and what could be improved. We share what people tell us with those with the power to make change happen. We encourage services to involve people in decisions that affect them.
We also help people find the information they need about services in their area.
