Why INVEST IN REST?

If like me you often 'need' to be busy then maybe you're overlook the practice of advanced lying down ;)

I often need to burn off some nervous energy through movement before settling into restorative postures and savasana but even then it can be a struggle. The general theme of savasana for me for the best part of a decade was "when will it end?"

Learning how to prepare through somatic movement and utilising props, props and more props to support my hypermobile body changed my yoga practice completely. Well, it's also changed things outside of my practice too. I am now present enough to sit and read, to waste a little time without feeling guilty and to listen more fully in conversations.

I feel like blankets and bolsters are a hard sell when they don't make for a great picture. People can't see your progress/nervous system on social media and don't forget that a well placed eye pillow will smudge your mascara. I'll champion this understated practice because while it's subtle it's not easy. It's a stripping away of distractions.

My last workshop of this exhausting year is this Saturday INVEST IN REST takes place in the Zoom room 3-5pm. You can expect gentle somatic movement and supported restorative postures. No experience necessary. It is suitable for anyone who can lie on the floor. Would you like to come join me? There are two payment options when booking (https://www.sarahwilliamsyoga.com/workshops ) and if you need this practice and cannot pay currently then I can gift you the practice - just send me a DM.

Get resting. Invest in it.
