Krishna Kallianpur, Chief Nurse, said: โ€œThis is great news for the Trust and something we are very proud to announce. It is incredibly challenging for Trusts to reach this standard of care in maternity services and is testament to a lot of hard work by colleagues at all levels."

Although national breastfeeding week has been delayed until September this year the breastfeeding network and it's wonderful volunteers are still hosting the big latch on events in the usual week of June. Why don't you check out where they are being held below and join in to meet some new friends, get support or advice, celebrate your achievements, share stories and show the government why additional funding and support is needed ๐Ÿคฑ

*Formula feeding provision at CRH*

From 1 June, any parents who plan to formula feed their baby after birth at Chesterfield Royal Hospital will need to bring first stage powdered formula, bottles and teats with them to the Trinity ward.

People wonโ€™t be able to access formula milk from this date unless it is medically required or clinically indicated that their baby needs it.

This is not a new change; it is what we used to do before Covid, and we will be returning to this pre-Covid practice from 1 June. It comes after feedback from patients and families as part of ongoing discussions with the Maternity Management Team and Derbyshire Maternity Neonatal Voices Partnership (DMNVP).

By bringing in the powdered milk that they intend to use once they are back home, we can ensure that parents are given tailored support to help them prepare formula and give them access to sterilising demonstrations in our dedicated milk kitchen.
