💜Bladder Cancer awareness month - May 2026💛

Bladder cancer is more common than many people realise.
Every year, over 610,000 people are diagnosed worldwide, and more than 1.9 million people are currently living with the disease.
It is the 9th most common cancer globally, yet awareness remains low, and symptoms are often misinterpreted or ignored.

💜When bladder cancer is detected early, treatment is highly effective, with survival rates of up to 90%. Recognising symptoms and acting early can save lives!

🌸April is Stress Awareness Month 🌸

Stress is something many of us experience, but when it becomes overwhelming it can affect both our mental and physical health. Taking time to recognise the signs of stress and finding healthy ways to manage it can make a big difference.

Simple steps such as staying active, talking to someone you trust, taking regular breaks, and making time for rest can help support your wellbeing.
If stress is affecting your daily life, support is available. Patients registered with West Walk Surgery can use Klinik to book an appointment with our Mental Health Specialist or a GP 💜

🏥Yate West Gate Centre door closure 2026 🏥

We’ve had several patients contact us about the ground floor shopping centre doors being closed over the last few months.

We understand this has caused some inconvenience and we’re sorry for the difficulties this may have created. The decision to close the doors sits with Sirona Minor Injuries Unit and is outside of West Walk Surgery’s control. The closure followed concerns from the MIU reception team about the cold, and Sirona are investigating heating solutions which will allow for re-opening of the doors.

Please we assured we will continue to raise this with Sirona, particularly as the weather becomes milder, as we appreciate the impact on our patients and staff.

Thank you for your patience and understanding.
