SUMMER YOGA CLASSES CONTINUE!

Join Monika for her Gentle Yoga classes that continue through the summer holidays every Wednesday 5.30-6.30pm here at Sensate Spa. If you’ve been thinking of trying yoga, now is the perfect time when classes are a little quieter over the summer.

Expect an hour of mindful movement, relaxation and a warm and welcoming community, Time to pause, breathe and reconnect.

These sessions are designed to support people 45+ with no previous yoga experience required. Come as you are.

🧘‍♀️Join for a peaceful and deeply restorative one hour Yin session each Thursday at 7.30pm.

Drop ins and those new to Yin Yoga are very welcome. No equipment required.

Slow paced and meditative, Yin targets the deep connective tissues of the body and encourages stillness, patience and mindfulness. Yin reduces anxiety and stress, encourages emotional release, promotes mental clarity whilst enhancing flexibility and improving joint mobility.

If you’re curious about restorative yoga, know that it can take you to a different place!

Working on the nervous system rather than the physical body, restorative yoga offers a series of postures designed to ease both a tired body and quiet a busy mind. Poses are held for extended periods of time - from 5 to 20 minutes - and should be completely comfortable. You can feel the tension melting away from the body.

There’s nowhere to go and nothing to do and it can feel like bliss!

But what on the surface appears as if you are doing very little can be an incredibly productive modality. Restorative yoga helps with:

💫 Deep physical restoration
💫 Nervous system regulation
💫 Boosting the immune system
💫 Reducing anxiety and overwhelm
💫 Improving physical and mental resilience
💫 Easing chronic pain and fatigue

So creating time for what seems like an indulgence actually plays a powerful role in our self-care and wellbeing.

Monika offers monthly restorative sessions at the Sensate Spa Studio and cares deeply about creating a welcoming space in which you can allow yourself to simply be. As some of us now head towards an extended summer break (which can feel like a marathon) her next Rest & Renew session offers a final window of calm - time to pause, breathe and reconnect - before the summer fully sweeps us away.

Are you in midlife and keen to try yoga?

Or looking for a slower-paced, more accessible class?

Gentle Yoga with Monika’s friendly Wednesday sessions are accessible and open to anyone looking for a way to improve their mobility. You DON’T have to to be flexible to take part!

These classes are designed to support tired and aching midlife bodies. Experience increased mobility, reduced stress, improved sleep and a deeper sense of physical and mental wellbeing though these sessions.

Monika brings a wealth of experience to her classes having practiced yoga for more than three decades, gaining a 300-hour yoga teacher training qualification and a women’s 3rd age health coach certification along the way.

With a personal understanding of chronic pain, physical injury and subsequent limitations, she is keen to share with others how beneficial yoga can be if you are suffering from any of these common midlife issues. In her sessions there is never any pressure or judgment about what a body can or cannot do and no expectation to perform any particular pose. She encourages you to start where you are, listen to your body - and simply do what you can.

Here’s what some of her midlife students who were new to yoga are saying:

“I am surprised at how my body has become much more flexible and the classes feel the right level for me.”

Gentle Yoga runs every Wednesday 5.30-6.30pm.

What is MER?
MER uses very slow, deep strokes combined with continuous breathing techniques and movement to release the fascia (soft connective tissue).

These techniques may enable easier breathing, better posture and reduced physical tension. This kind of session may also support emotional awareness and release.

Due to the slow and deep nature of these sessions they are 1.5 hours long.
