This week inside The Virtual Hygienist free Facebook group we’re moving into something that surprises a lot of people…
Because dental health isn’t only about what’s happening on the surface of your teeth.
It’s also deeply connected to what’s happening inside your body.
In particular, your blood sugar levels.
When blood sugars are constantly rising and falling throughout the day, it can create inflammation in the body. And one of the places this often shows up is in your gums.
You might notice things like:
– Bleeding when you brush
– Soreness or swelling
– Gum issues that don’t seem to fully settle, even when you’re doing “all the right things”
And if you’ve ever experienced that frustration of feeling like you are trying, but things still aren’t improving - you’re not alone.
This week I’ll be talking about:
✨ How blood sugar balance impacts gum health
✨ Why inflammation plays such a key role
✨ What the “blood sugar rollercoaster” actually looks like in everyday life
✨ And a few gentle, realistic ways you can start supporting your body more easily
I’ll also be sharing a little of my own experience as I took part in Huth's Sugar Shutdown Challenge which focused on blood sugar balance to improve our overall wellbeing. It’s was really eye-opening to notice just how interconnected everything feels when you start paying attention.
If any of this resonates with you, I really encourage you to come and join the conversation in the group this week. Your questions and experiences often help others feel much less alone 💜
And if you’re reading this thinking, “I wonder if this could be part of what’s going on for me…” then you’re very welcome to book a free, relaxed online session with me.
It’s a gentle space where we can look at your oral health as a whole picture - not just isolated symptoms - and start to explore what might actually be contributing.
You can book here if it feels right for you:
