How we support people vs how we could do it better 🤔
- Words are so important. Often, the little things aren’t actually little things.
Some ideas on how to support people:
* Set time aside with no distractions
* Let them share as much or as little as they feel comfortable doing
* Ask open ended questions
* Listen without making judgements and concentrate on their needs in that moment
* Ask them if they know what would help them
* Reassure them
* Be patient with them, offer to be there for them for whatever they think will help them, provide a listening ear
- There are many more, but sometimes the things that seem so small and easy, are the things that mean the most to someone.

At HTA we adopt a trauma informed approach to our training, and have co-produced all of our courses with people who have experienced different types of trauma. We also deliver training on trauma informed care.
