Feel like your little one doesn’t like their cot?
Struggle to settle them in their room?
Are they upset the second you put them in their cot?
Worried they have a bad association with their bedroom?
When we are trying to get our child used to their bedroom and cot we want to try to make that space as positive and familiar as possible.
🌟Spend at least 15 minutes a day in their room, outside of sleep times.
🌙 PLAY 🌙 BE SILLY 🌙 DANCE 🌙 READ STORIES
Every time you go into their room, make it fun and positive.
🌟Getting them dressed in there, bedtime routine in there, playtime in their cot while you nip to the loo or fold laundry etc.
🚨If your child instantly gets upset when you enter their room then start small: Run in, dance and sing for 10 seconds, leave again. Repeat a few times every day and build up the time spent in there.
🚨If they get upset when put in their cot then every day place them in with a tickle, hide down the side for 2 seconds then jump up, tickle and pick them up again, practice a few times a day and build up the time you hide for.
The idea is we are having super short bursts of fun in their room/cot, then leaving again so it ends up being something they get used to, less sensitive to, maybe even look forward to.
⭐️Allow them to see the space in different lights, morning, afternoon, evening so they can get used to shadows, lights, shapes etc
This can all be done as gradually as needed based on how sensitive they are.
