Important Update on Weight Loss Medications 📢
We've been getting requests from private providers to review patient notes for weight loss meds like Wegovy, Saxenda, and Mounjaro. Here’s what you need to know:
🩺 Who Prescribes?
Private providers are responsible for prescribing.
Reviewing notes implies we take responsibility for their prescriptions, which we can't do due to high pressure on General Practice.
⚖️ Safety First!
GMC regulations require the prescribing clinician to ensure safety by:
-Taking a history, Examining the patient, Conducting necessary investigations
NICE guidelines require accurate weight measurement and regular reviews.
🏥 Private Providers' Role
NHS GPs can't perform private work for them.
Non-response from us doesn't mean it's safe to prescribe.
📲 Access Your Records
Patients can share their NHS records via the NHS app.
📜 Our Policy
We direct private prescribers back to their patients.
Patients should share their medical records via the NHS app.
We can't take responsibility for third-party prescribing.
💡 What You Should Do
Private Providers: Contact your patient directly.
Patients: Ensure your provider has access to your NHS records through the NHS app.
