Which myofascial kinetic line or lines do you think this stretch targets? 😁

Let me know below and I'll post the answer along with diagrams soon!

Do any of my canine physio connections cover Swindon UK?

I only cover that area for equine appointments, where I can see multiple at once!

Happy New Year! 🎉

January is such a great time to pause and set some goals for the year ahead. Goals help keep us focused on the direction we actually want our career and business to go in — and when they align with your bigger vision, all those small steps really do add up.

I’d really encourage you to set a mix of goals:
• business goals
• clinical development goals
• personal goals (including things like work–life balance and your own happiness)

Try to make them specific and measurable, and don’t forget to review them regularly — I check mine every 3 months so I know whether I’m on track.

✨ Action for you:
Take a little time this week to write down your goals for the year ahead. And if you feel like sharing one in the comments, I’d love to hear it (but no pressure at all!).

✨ WIN a 1-hour online mentoring session with me ✨

Feeling a bit stuck, overwhelmed, or unsure what your next step should be in your physio / animal therapy business?

Building a therapy career isn’t just about developing clinical skills.

It’s business decisions. Confidence. Direction. Boundaries. Systems.

And I know that it can feel A LOT at times and like we're having to just fumble along alone, not sure if we're making the right decisions....

That’s exactly why I provide mentoring - to be someone to talk things through with, sense check ideas and help people move forward with confidence.

SO I thought it would be a great way to start off the year by offering a January giveaway! 💙

✨ What you’d get in the session:

✔ Time to talk through you, your business, and your challenges
✔ Clarity on your goals and direction
✔ Space to explore clinical or business questions
✔ A clear action plan to move you forward
✔ A follow-up mentorship journal emailed to you afterwards

Let’s talk briefly about posture and how our patients perform their rehab exercises.

Here, I’m using a wobble cushion to give this lovely older boy a bit of extra support during his sit-to-stand exercises. The cushion helps him feel more stable and confident, and means his joints don't have to go into full flexion— but the exercise itself isn’t just about DOING the movement, it's about HOW he does it.

There are lots of things we’re still working to improve in HOW he performs it. Right now, our main focus is encouraging him to fully engage and extend through his hindlimbs when standing, rather than still being in a crouched position and collapsing back down into the sit a little.

As therapists, let’s always strive for optimal dynamic posture. Regularly observe with a critical eye, make small adjustments, and keep refining the movement over time.

When it comes to rehab exercises, it’s always quality over quantity. We’re retraining posture and teaching the body to move more efficiently — and that means posture matters at every part of the movement, not just the end position.

THERAPISTS! This festive season, I want to challenge you to take time off like the professional you are — and I mean properly take time off 🎄

A simple plan you can follow:
✔ Decide your exact closed dates and block them out in your calendar
✔ Let clients know in advance (and remind them as the break approaches)
✔ Wrap up enquiries and client needs the week before
✔ Share your closed dates on social media
✔ Set your out-of-office on WhatsApp Business, email and Meta
✔ If you use enquiry forms, set an automatic reply there too

It’s not just okay to take time off - its absolutely necessary!

We give so much of ourselves as therapists, and proper rest is what allows us to keep showing up at our best for our patients.

I challenge you to commit to this over the festive period — you deserve it!✨

After watching the fantastic lecture “Functional Movement Analysis and What it Means” with Dr. Constanza Gómez Álvarez at the Vet Rehab Summit by , I was inspired to add more quantitative, measurable data into my clinical practice!

So I’ve started creating progress and observation sheets for my canine patients. Very much in stage one – I’m going to start trying them out with a few clients and then come back to the drawing board!

💪 Let’s add more data-driven observation into our therapy practices!

Does anyone else use any trackers for clients in their practice? Or, just want other data measures do you use? I’d love to hear what works for others!

About Me

Growing up in rural County Cork, Ireland, I knew from a young age that I wanted to persue a career with animals. I moved to the UK in 2013, and from there my academic career bloomed. On finishing my Masters degree, I became a fully qualified and insured veterinary physiotherapist, being a member of the Register of Animal Musculoskeletal Practitioners (RAMP), and also an Equine Body Worker (EEBW). I now practice in Essex and the surrounding counties, treating horses and dogs utilising a blend of soft tissue therapy, electrotherapeutic modalities and remedial exercise prescription, aiming to alleviate pain, optimise function and promote healing. I also lecture on an undergradute degree course in Veterinary Physiotherapy, a role I enjoy immensely as it facilitates my perpetual passion for academia.
