I am raising money to support Network Counselling who transform lives. My Aunt took her life when I was sixteen. Since then I have suffered with episodes of depression and suicidal thoughts. This led me, in my forties, to train to be a psychotherapist and dedicate the pass twenty years to helping those in emotional distress. I have come to value the importance of charities like Network who offer low-cost counselling to adults. Their counsellors literally change lives. I am going to be cycling 450 km in the sun and humidity from Vietnam to Cambodia. This cycling challenge will be a huge emotional and physical test as I am just recovering from three months of post-vial fatigue having had a bad dose of COVID in 2021. I know your generose support will help motivate me. Thank you Tricia

Recieved this from William Bloom:

My friend and colleague, Tarek Alshalati, in solidarity with victims of the disaster, will be fasting over the next seven days. He asks that people support his activism by donating to the Disasters Emergency Committee appeal.
Tarek is from a Syrian background and works as a psychiatrist in the NHS. He is also a Spiritual Companion.

“The state of the world feels endlessly gloomy, and impossible to escape from the constant negativity about national and global events. This can increase people's levels of anxiety, which can have serious impact on not our mental and physical health. The World Health Organization (WHO) found the COVID pandemic alone triggered a 25% increase in the occurence of anxiety and depression worldwide.

Constant bad news can trigger anxiety, which can be caused by overusing our imagination. The news is repeated so regularly throughout the day, on a variety of channels, it can be hard to escape” I encourage you all to be measured in how often to watch or listen to the news.

Go gently now.

I’ve just read that Government 10-year mental health plan has been scrapped

Instead it will be included within a wider 'major conditions strategy'.

Many are frustrated that the government appears to be backtracking on its commitment to look at mental health in a more holistic way. Also concerned about the risk of continuing an overly medicalised approach to mental health by grouping it with serious physical health conditions.
I urge you to write to your Member of Parliament expressing your concerns and the need for parity of funding for physical & mental health.

I hope you will read my passionate plea for action regarding the Domestic Abuse Bill 2020 which is currently making its way through Parliament. We have just days to act. This is so important specially when The Guardian reports that Domestic Abuse killings have more than doubled amid Covid-19 lockdown.

Hello, Following my post about the menopause and training for a 10K I promised to let you have some resources which I hope you will find useful. They have helped me.

I also really rate Christiane Northrup MD and her book " Goddesses Never Age". This is quite a weighty book but is full of wisdom. It is very practical and hopeful about midlife.
I wish you rewarding reading. Tricia
