Jean and I have taken a stroll up and down the road on a few afternoons this week.
We have talked and walked which has been a breath of fresh air. Literally!

Lizzie joined residents to paint pumpkin patches today in Watercolour Wednesday.
The pumpkins painted were very autumnal and colourful.
The final pictures look very attractive on our gallery wall.

Iqra kindly shared her homemade Pakistani Biryani rice with chicken and sweet pudding, as shown in the photos. She also spoke about the different provinces of Pakistan and proudly pointed out the region she is from. Each province has its own traditional handmade clothing, which she highlighted on the map in the photo. Thank you, Iqra, for sharing your culture and delicious food with us!

Today, Mary brought us a feast for our eyes as well as our taste buds with her amazing collection of culture, dress and food from her native Uganda.

We tried Mandazi, Roasted green bananas, Matooke and chappatis. As well as Chai tea and Millet porridge.

She decorated a special table with artwork, jewellery, statues, material and bags and a whole lot more!

Mary looked spectacular in her custom dress, and we all enjoyed learning about her country of origin.

Carer Claire created these wonderful Christmas table decorations to sell at the upcoming Fayre.

Residents enjoyed an afternoon of entertainment by one of the F. J singers yesterday.
The songs spanned the decades from the 50’s to the 90’s so there was something for everyone!
The ‘crooned’ songs were very relaxing to listen to.

As the week pans out, we will learn about the culture, language, food and traditional dress of members of staff from Namibia, Uganda, Tanzania and Pakistan.

As part of Collingwood’s diversity week, staff have been educating us all with facts about their country of origin. The home is decorated with flag bunting and a map of the world highlights where each staff member is from.

On Monday, Suzy played Hungarian music and brought in a selection of food for us to try.

Today, Susma and Julianna wore traditional dress and also brought delicious, traditional food which we enjoyed. Susma’s Nepali flag was also displayed.

Julianna is from Ghana as is Jess who will be telling us about her country later in the week.
