“The open heart see’s, feels and absorbs the beauty of the world.” ♡

Camel Pose // Ustrasana

A big and beautiful heart opening stretch, which like a camel journeying through the desert requires preparation, stamina and a commitment to self-awareness.

This posture is wonderfully freeing, but can make us feel vulnerable; we are opening parts of the body we usually protect & it can be physically & emotionally challenging; so always listen to your body, focus on your breath & be gentle with yourself.

There are many holistic benefits of Camel Pose, including:

♡ Counteracts slouching & the effects of prolonged sitting.

♡ Helps relieve lower back pain & tension in back, neck & shoulders

♡ Improves circulation & digestion

♡ Stretches the full front body & strengthens muscles in the back body.

♡ Anxiety & Stress relief

♡ Helps us process stored emotions.

♡ Opens our heart centre and allows energy to flow freely through, helping us operate every action & thought from a place of love.

Crescent High Lunge // Ashta Chandrasana // Anjaneyasana Variation ☽

A warming and strengthening posture which you will find common practice in a yoga class depending on the theme; especially as part of a sun salutation variation and as preparation or transition into many asanas such as the warriors and balancing poses! There are also so many variations you can play with in high lunge, such as twists and eagle arms!

A strong and grounding, full body stretching posture which is a sure-fire way to improve & tone the glutes & quads - but also open up the heart and chest, what more could you want?!

Other benefits of high lunge include:

☽ Stimulates thyroid gland, improving metabolism.

☽ Improves function of respiratory and circulatory system

☽ Strengthen joints and the muscles around them (ankles, knees, hips, entire spine, elbow, shoulders, neck)

☽ Burns excess fat and tones the muscles of the entire body!

☽ Therapeutic pose for ailments such as sciatica, asthma and insomnia.

☽ Cultivates awareness of the body & breath; building stability & stamina to increase self confidence.

☽ Stimulates the root, sacral & solar plexus chakras.

"Take hold of your own life. See that the whole existence is celebrating.

These trees are not serious, these birds are not serious. The rivers and the oceans are wild, and everywhere there is fun, everywhere there is joy and delight.

Watch existence, listen to the existence and become part of it."

Let go of distractions to find your balance ☯

Tripod Headstand
known as the king of all asanas and Sirsasana II in Sanskrit.

It is referred to as the king of all yoga poses due to its wonderful benefits for the body and mind, such as:

☯ Stimulates the function of Pineal, Hypothalamus and Pituitary glands - enabling better functioning & coordination of hormones.
☯ Stimulates and improves functions of nervous system, improving homeostasis in the body.
☯ Improves memory & concentration
☯ Removing mental fatigue, anxiety & depression
☯ Gives a rest to the heart by reversing blood pressure.
☯ Improves digestion and elimination
☯ Strengthens back, shoulder & arm muscles

And the list goes on...

It amazes me everyday the huge benefits that different yoga poses have on the body and mind!

✷ Wild Thing ✷
CAMATKARASNA

A beautiful and playful asana, but also a strong emotional and physical releasing pose.

Did you know alot of our emotional stress is stored in our hips? So opening the hip flexors and stretching the hip muscles like you do here in Wild Thing, causes a release and allows the stored tension to melt away. It can be challenging when approaching hip openers, but breathe, focus on your breath and it will soon allow your mind to calm.

Other benefits of Wild Thing:

✷ Stretches the entire front body and this feels delicious!
✷ Chest and Heart opener
✷ Creates space in the lungs, boosting their performance
✷ Strengthens the shoulders, upper back, arms and wrists.
✷ Improves spine flexibility
✷ Increases confidence and energy

Have you tried wild thing before?

"True yoga is not about the shape of your body, but the shape of your life. Yoga is not to be performed; yoga is to be lived. Yoga doesn't care about what you have been; yoga cares about the person you are becoming. Yoga is designed for a vast and profound purpose, and for it to be truly called yoga, it's essence must be embodied."
✡ Aadil Palkhivala ✡

This is such a powerful quote.

As soon as I started YTT it became so apparent how yoga is a way of life and a forever practice to empower you on a path to true happiness and peace. Embodying the practice in its entirity will open your mind to something bigger yourself and positively influence every day.

I thought it was about time I started a dedicated page for my yoga and beyond journey after completing 200 hours teacher training last month with in Bali (I will share more on the incredible journey YTT was in another post)

So, I am Farran: a Mama of a 4 year old son-shine, a global citizen, a water baby, intrested in alternative/holistic therapies & natural medicine, a ☼virgo ☽ aquarius and ⇡ sagittarius. A woman with a desire to help, heal and to make yoga accessible to all people. Forever envisioning a better world for us all to live in and I think laughter, love and reggae music are the best medicines!

I took my first yoga class around 10 years ago and fell in love with every aspect of it, which additionally helped me navigate through different parts of life. Admiteddly my practice hadnt been consistent until last year - but since then and thanks to a daily practice and YTT I can see how yoga is changing my life and myself for the better and I now want to share that with you all.

So here I will be, Sharing the journey I am embarking upon, in which ever direction it takes me; sharing tools and inspiration for physical and mental wellbeing and loving self awareness through; movement, the breath, our mindset, ancient teachings, what we put into our bodies and other practices.

I would love it if you can join me on this honest and open journey of self-discovery, to come together and create a thriving community.

I am excited to share more, learn more and connect on and off this platform 🤍
