What is postural realignment?

Postural realignment refers to the process of correcting or improving the alignment of the body's posture. It involves assessing and addressing any imbalances, asymmetries, or malalignments in the musculoskeletal system that may contribute to poor posture.

As seen below postural realignment involves a postural assessment, advice about your posture and exercises that can help our patients to improve their posture.
A poor posture can cause a cycle of muscle imbalance and most probably pain which can be very difficult to reduce it without any intervention.

As part of postural alignment treatment, the patient benefits can be the following:
- Reduced pain.
- Strengthening of weak muscles.
- Stretching of overused muscles.
- Improved function.
- Improved general posture.

Musculoskeletal Pain refers to discomfort or pain that affects the muscle, tendons, ligaments, bones, or joints. The most common causes for the pain can be caused by an injury, poor posture, muscle tension, inflammation, or medical conditions such as arthritis or fibromyalgia.

Through physiotherapy all the above plus many more can be restored for a optimal function and to enhance the individual’s quality of life.

Treatment plans are typically tailored to the specific needs and goals of each patient as follows:
- Manual Therapy – involves hands on techniques.
- Exercise Therapy – exercises are prescribed to strengthen muscles.
- Modalities – physiotherapists may use modalities such as heat, cold, ultrasound, or electrical.
- Soft Tissue Techniques - techniques like massage, myofascial release, or trigger point therapy.
- Functional Training - patients are guided through functional tasks or movements to improve performance.
- Pain Management Strategies - strategies such as relaxation techniques, biofeedback, or cognitive-behavioral approaches to help manage pain perception.

The importance of a good stretching

The lack of stretching can lead to decreased flexibility, muscle stiffness, and reduced range of motion. Over time, this can result in chronic muscle tightness, joint pain, and even posture-related issues.

Regular stretching and not just in physiotherapy can help to counteract these effects by promoting muscle elasticity, improving joint mobility and better flexibility.

Doing so it can help manage conditions such us:
- arthritis
- back pain
- better physical health
- well-being over time

Do you need a hip replacement surgery, or you’ve had one already? For a better management of the surgery there are a few crucial steps that need to be taken.

A thorough assessment by a physiotherapist helps tailor a pre-surgery exercise plan to strengthen the muscles around the hip joint.

Strengthening through specific exercises that are designed to improve hip strength and flexibility, aiding in a quicker recovery and better outcomes post-surgery.

The right physiotherapy immediately after surgery is crucial. Gradual movements and exercises prescribed by a physiotherapist aid in regaining mobility without complications.

Progressive exercises help rebuild strength and restore normal movement patterns. Patience and consistency here are key!
