We have had a brilliant training day with EVO ICL today, refreshing our knowledge on EVO Implantable Contact Lenses (ICL’s). Imagine your life without the need for removable contacts or glasses!

In our training, we discussed how ICL’s are an incredible refractive solution for a wide range of prescriptions, addressing issues with shortsight, longsight and astigmatism. How Does Glaucoma Affect Vision?

The affect on vision can be very subtle in the early stages, with a loss of peripheral (side) vision, which often develops unnoticed.

If left to progress, this can result in tunnel vision if peripheral vision narrows to an extreme. In advanced stages, even central vision can be affected, leading to significant sight impairment.

A life-changing result for our brilliant patient today!

Josh is flying out to Australia to spend some time travelling this year. With the help of our expert Consultant Ophthalmologist, Mr Kieren Darcy, Josh is now glasses-free! He’s able to wear normal sunglasses and swim without prescription goggles for the first time in 15 years.

Today, we helped Josh achieve his dream of being able to see without glasses or contact lenses. It’s a very special experience to be a part of and we’re so grateful to every one of our patients for trusting us with your eyes.

Miss Samantha Hunt is a Consultant Ophthalmologist at Vision Care Clinic and leads the oculoplastic, lacrimal, and orbital service at the prestigious Bristol Eye Hospital.

Here Samantha explains more about a Blepharoplasty procedure, which aims to remove excessive skin and fat, resulting in a more open, youthful eye.

A blepharoplasty, also known as eyelid surgery may also be performed for more functional reasons; for example, if an individual’s lids are obscuring their line of sight, affecting vision.

The procedure involves removing tissue from the lids, along natural lines to avoid easily visible scarring. Recovery time can vary depending on the individual but patients are typically back to normal activities in a couple of weeks.

We are thrilled to announce that Mr Kieren Darcy has been shortlisted as a Bristol Business Legend with ! Kieren is among business leaders making change at an international level and has been spotlighted for his dedication to patient safety and optimal visual outcomes, redefining standards of care within the Ophthalmic industry.

Mr Darcy is a highly qualified, professional, caring Consultant Eye Surgeon and the the Medical Director of Vision Care Clinic. In the NHS, he is the Head of Corneal and Refractive Surgery at the internationally respected Bristol Eye Hospital.

Kieren started his career as a General Surgeon and is a Member of the Royal College of Surgeons in England. He moved into ophthalmology in 2007, training in London and the southwest of England. He was the winner of the revered Harcourt Medal during his training. This prestigious award is bestowed upon the Ophthalmologist who comes top in the world of The Royal College of Ophthalmologists Consultant examinations. He has done two subspecialist fellowships in Corneal and Refractive Surgery. The first in Bristol and the second in the highly acclaimed Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital, Melbourne, Australia.

He also sits on the Royal College of Ophthalmologists, Refractive Surgery Working Group, a committee tasked with redefining standards and a new accreditation process for Refractive Surgeons wishing to practice in the UK.

Kieren is an honorary lecturer at the University of Bristol and also leads and lectures on many local and international instructional courses on Corneal, Cataract and Refractive Surgery.

Kieren has proudly introduced new and improved techniques of corneal transplantation to Bristol, which have been a step-change in corneal transplant surgery with significant improvements in visual outcomes.
He is actively involved in clinical research and has published in many international journals. He uses this to benefit patients, often gaining individual early access to new treatments.
