✨ Winter Solstice Gathering – Final Spaces ✨

Our afternoon session is almost full, while there is still plenty of space in the morning session.

Both sessions offer the same gentle, community-centred experience: time to slow down, connect with nature, mark the turning of the year, and welcome the returning light together.

We will also be holding our Winter Solstice gathering in the beautiful Cob House— a warm, natural space that feels especially fitting for pausing and coming together at this time of year.

⚠️Nature under threat in North Somerset

We’re concerned that development proposals in the North Somerset Local Plan threaten the future of critically important sites for nature, including Weston Big Wood SSSI.

We are objecting to the current proposals and urge North Somerset Council to re-think its approach.

Avon Wildlife Trust is working with communities, farmers, landowners, and partner organisations to secure nature’s recovery across the region. We believe that it is possible to have development in harmony with nature, but the draft North Somerset Local Plan does not currently meet this requirement.

At present there are elements of the Plan that threaten existing ecological networks, including the loss of Green Belt, by damaging the critical connections between international, national and locally designated sites, and through significant loss of the corridors and stepping stones that connect these sites.

Step away from the busyness and pressures of the season and reconnect with nature at Brown Rock.
Join us for a peaceful session around the fire in the woods—a chance to slow down, calm your senses, and revitalise yourself.

What to expect:
-Explore the turning of the year and the return of the light
-Gentle practices to help you feel at home in nature
- Seasonal-themed craft activity

Choose your session:
-Morning: 10:30 AM – 1:00 PM
-Afternoon: 1:30 PM – 4:00 PM

-Shared lunch for both groups: 1:30 PM – 2:00 PM

On the 27th of September, we gather at Brown Rock for our first Seasonal Wellbeing Saturday. It’s a gentle space to pause, restore, and reconnect—with nature, with each other, and with the rhythm of autumn.

We love holding these Wild Day sessions — and we’ve been doing so for several years now!

It’s sometimes hard to put into words what these sessions bring to those who come. But we revisited responses from a questionnaire we asked participants to complete to help us show to funders what these sessions mean.

🌿 Wild Days – Last Friday of Every Month 🌿

Feeling anxious, low, or just in need of a reset?

Wild Days is a gentle monthly session held outdoors—a space to slow down, breathe deeply, and reconnect with yourself and the natural world. There’s no pressure to talk, no expectations. Just time in nature, in a supportive group, at your own pace.

One participant shared:

“The benefits of each Wild Day I've attended are far-reaching. Being outside in a supportive environment with no pressure to be anyone but myself helped me relax and enjoy the moment. Over time, I’ve started taking mindful walks, noticing nature more, and using grounding exercises to manage anxiety. It’s been life-changing.”

We are thrilled to see green social prescribing receiving the attention it deserves! Research shows it is a powerful way to support mental health, and this is just the beginning. We need continued commitment from policymakers to ensure its long-term success.

At Brown Rock, we have been part of the "Healthier with Nature" pilot project in Bristol, North Somerset & South Glos. The funding has supported our NatureWell course and Wild Days, making a positive difference for many. 🌳💚

Nature really is the best medicine—let’s keep advocating for it! 🌱
