Why Everyday Inclusion Matters

We often think of inclusion as something big: policies, training programs, or leadership statements. While these things certainly matter, true inclusion is built on the daily actions of people in the workplace.

👉It's in the manager who checks in when a team member looks overwhelmed.

👉It's in the colleague who listens without judgment when a different perspective is shared.

👉It's in the courage to challenge biased comments, even when it feels uncomfortable.

These small moments shape a workplace culture more than we realise. They build trust, a sense of belonging, and wellbeing.

When people feel seen, valued, and safe, everyone succeeds.

✨Creating an inclusive workplace means focusing on progress rather than perfection.

✨Every organisation has room to grow, and the most important step is being willing to start.

✨When leaders and teams commit to learning, listening, and adjusting, change becomes possible.

It's a journey, and every small action counts.

At Apoyo Courses Ltd. we help organisations move from awareness to action. We explore how mental health, anti-racism, and diversity are not separate issues but are deeply connected.

If you're curious about how to take the next step, for your organisation, contact me to have a conversation.

“No decisions without us”

This powerful message from disabled people is a reminder that inclusion means having access to power, choice, and influence.

Too often, decisions that affect lives are taken without the voices of those most impacted.

Whether it’s in daily life, workplaces, or government, everyone deserves the right to shape the spaces they belong to.

Real change happens only when every voice counts, and every seat at the table is open.

🛑 “I don’t see colour.”

It might sound kind, but it actually erases important parts of people’s identity.

Saying “I don’t see colour” ignores the real experiences of racism and the unique challenges faced by people because of their race.

It’s like saying, “I don’t see what makes you, you.”

Racism isn’t always obvious or loud.

It hides in everyday moments:

👉 Job offers that never come
👉 Voices that go unheard in meetings
👉 Systems built without everyone in mind

If colour isn’t seen, then racism isn’t acknowledged; and without that, change can’t happen.

Being “not racist” is not enough.

We need to be actively anti-racist in how we think, speak, and act.

Inclusion isn’t a nice idea.
It’s a responsibility we all share. 💥

I’m Fabiola Doano, and I deliver Anti-Racism courses that help organisations understand bias, challenge racism, and build inclusive cultures.

🌞🌞 Two of the hottest days of the year… and 16 amazing people who didn’t give up!

Last Thursday and Friday, I had the joy of delivering a 2-day Mental Health First Aid England Mental Health First Aid course to a brilliant group of 16 delegates,

and I’m proud to say that all of them are now qualified Mental Health First Aiders! 🎉

We spent two full days online 💻, learning about:
✨ mental health
✨ how to support someone in crisis
✨ how to spot signs of distress
✨ and most importantly, how to start safe, supportive conversations.

It’s not easy to stay focused on screen for that long, especially during a heatwave,

but this group showed so much commitment, compassion, and curiosity

Thank you to each of you for your openness, reflections, and willingness to learn

The workplace and the world need more people like you, and I wish you all the best in your new role!! 👏

A big thank you to Siren Training for working with me once again. It’s always a pleasure to collaborate and bring such meaningful training to life.

Today, is Windrush Day

I honour the strength, resilience, and contribution of the Windrush Generation.

On 22nd June 1948, hundreds of people from the Caribbean arrived in the UK aboard the Empire Windrush, invited to help rebuild the country after the war.

They worked in the NHS, public transport, schools, and many other vital services.

They gave so much.

And yet, they were met with racism, discrimination, and exclusion.

Decades later, their descendants still face inequality, in housing, healthcare, education, and employment.

Today is not just a moment to reflect, it’s a call to remember, to acknowledge, and to act.

Let’s continue to:
🌟 Recognise their contributions
🌟 Speak out against injustice
🌟 Build workplaces and communities that truly value everyone

To the Windrush Generation and their families: we see you, we thank you, and we stand with you.

It felt meaningful in all the right ways. 💚

I was part of a lovely networking event at UBC Flexible Offices in Cirencester, where I shared a short intro on mental health and wellbeing.

We connected deeply, talked about mental health, neurodivergence, our personal journeys, and how we can support each other more.

We laughed, reflected, opened up… and left feeling seen and heard.

Big love to the amazing people who made it such a meaningful space, and to UBC offices for the warm welcome and tasty lunch!

This is the kind of work I love.

At Apoyo Courses Ltd. Courses, we focus on real conversations and human connection 💫

Massive thank you to Michelle, for all the work she's done to make this event possible and for arranging the delicious lunch (and for getting me a delicious GF option! 🤗)

💬 Check In, Properly

A - “How are you?”
B - “Fine.”

We hear it every day. But how often do we really listen?

Sometimes “fine” means:
🛑I’m tired.
🛑I’m struggling.
🛑I don’t want to bother you.

👉Let’s try asking twice.

👉Let’s hold space.

👉Let’s follow up with a message. A voice note. A walk.

This week, and every week, let’s not just check boxes... let’s check in.

Because a proper conversation could be exactly what someone needs today.

And maybe, it’s exactly what you need too.
