I call this sequence pattern the “loop” pattern because we establish a rhythm, a flow which we loop through a few times; with options to stay with the earlier iteration or back off more or later on complexity.

A phrase I like to offer is: “if your body is asking for more sensation you could” or “if you want more challenge” as well as “if this is the time you need rest”

So everyone gets to listen to their own bodies & wisdom.

Here are some layering on options:

The supine twist (parivritta parivatanasana) option to straighten legs

The prone posture: rest here/ gentler or more challenging locust variations/ bow pose (dhanurasana)

Seated twist: can go to ardha matsyendrasana (half lord of fishes) 🐟 and work with single leg weight bearing to standing

Standings: add in warrior 3 (Virabadrasana 3) / dancers (natarajasana)

I’ll be preparing more sequencing resources here & some freebies so follow along & sign up to newsletters for the freebies!

I even heard an expert doctor on the radio pathologise the behaviour saying it was not normal rage! As if we are not all about to burst open with the horrors we see every day.

It is just one example of how women re systematically silenced. For years I hoped the the yoga would help calm me, calm my rage. It is only years later I realise we have to process and stop internalising the harm we experience and witness.

The image of womanhood in yoga swerves from earth mother to spiritual waif. But we need to FIND our voices to be loud and clear and outraged.

I am going to try to speak up more even when I don’t want to talk (or make a reel) and my courses share this more broad approach to nervous system regulation- up and down. Loud and quiet. We need to be enraged and engaged as well as sometimes just nurturing ourselves with quiet.

Feminist/ anti racist literature reading list in today's newsletter & in the 300hr training, comment "news" for newsletter sign up link or sign up in bio.

I’ll post some of the books & relevant practices soon. Lx

I have to admit I'm struggling at home BUT I shared a fantastic weekend with incredible trainees anyway!

Belive me, you didn't leave it too late, or do it all wrong. You don't need it all sorted before you take the next step.

I spent years trying to do better, thinking it had all gone wrong and I'd missed the boat.

But more & more I realise how important it is to show up even when things are messy.

The messages we hear and see about being perfect are just a way to keep us back or pinned down.

Theres space to get some stuff wrong, but still have so much of value to share!

The ones who hold themswlvws back becahew rhey dont feel ready or good enough are veryoften the people we need to hear from the most.

This weekend the trainees absolutely inspired me. They shared their wholeness, their poetry, stories, sutras, struggles. They showed up as they are and it was incredible.

In these days with so much division being pushed, let's dare to show up with love. Find our voices- because what we relly need to see is compassion in action. Not perfection. 💜

I have had to completely start again with the stories I tell myself. The stories I inherited were SO negative that it has been a long journey And even some of the usual ideas that get shared as yoga I have had to let go of! (If you saw my last reel, you know what I mean.)

This monthI've been working with Satya - truth- in my classes refoldedfro the yoga hub. Bringint it into class with the simple practice of noticing: Is this story actually true, or is it just familiar?

I know it can be hard to weave a theme all the way through class, but this one's been so simple - it works in challenging poses, in rest, in breath work, everywhere.
And watching students soften when they realize they can choose a different story? That's why I teach.

Swipe through for the cues I'm using. Borrow them if they resonate.

Want to practice this yourself? Join the Yoga Hub free for 12 days. Simply cancel before the 12 days are up and you will not pay a thing! for Comment "HUB" for the half-price offer or go find the link above.
