Comment "LIVE" for link to FREE live workshop on 27th May (recording also avaiable). I decided to put on a live session / workshop to clarify what the science is saying (as far as I can tell)

AND what it means for us as yoga teachers. So you’ll come away w some clarity & practical techniques.

YES RECORDING AVAILABLE!!! But I am preparing a resource for teachers and will share for those who can come live.

Time is always is UK time! So it’s wed 27 May 4pm BST (British summer time)

I already had the date for some trainees but figured we can open it up and add some free resources!!!

Please tell your friends. I get so many qus relating to this (& upset messages) and I just can’t always reply and send personal responses. BUT I will do what I can to share more and I TOTALLY get it if you feel threatened or upset when the ideas change.

Sending love people

Can we please STOP telling students their bodies are forever scarred by traumas. (Comment blog for more details!)

It’s bad enough that 1 in 4 women experience some form of SA in their life without claiming we are then phoned with it forever.

In our most sensitive areas and organs designed for movement for dance for pleasure.

NOOOOO! For years I resented my left hip feeling tight- I felt at war with myself. Until I finally learnt- it’s not in the body. It’s in the nervous system.

And nervous systems are ADAPTABLE!!!

Follow along as we unpack inclusive teaching more. I am also planning a FREE live masterclass so stay tuned. I’ll send details in my mailing list (link in bio or comment!)

I have linked my FREE: Did polyvagal theory get it all wrong while we are here busting Myths!

Comment “hello” for the FREE teachers guide.

Here’s the 3 principles I share w my trainees:

1. LOOK & SEE 👀 where your student is at. What movement suits them. How EXHAUSTED are they already?! Sometimes more rest over a vinyasa is needed.

2. ACTUALLY TEACH! Have a teaching point - spend time workshopping a movement or a pose. Or describe and embody a yoga concept.

3. Share AWARENESS over movement. Awareness of body, breath, mind. This way we can share that the practice is for all of us- one moment at a time and the yoga comes to life.

Follow for more teacher support and real teaching life!

Hello, I am Laura and I love sharing yoga that works for you! I have been teaching for 27 years (half my life) and before that I worked with refugees and people w disabilities.

So it came naturally to explore yoga that soothes minds or can be inclusive however hypermobile or less mobile you are.

Turns out I also have ADHD. Became apparent as my son collected a healthy range of diagnosis’s and we are similar in some ways!

Nowadays he’s 19 and I try to support him still alongside yoga life. I run trainings in bristol and celebrate all the wonderful people I get to see here or in studio!

Come say hello and share what make you think “oh interesting!!!”

Love Laura x

Ooops!!! I should have posted about this course so long ago. BUT I miscounted the people versus places! SO if you are looking for a highly supportive, deep dive training- get in touch. Comment “300” for the prospectus or “call” if you’d like to chat.

The course provides:
- a chance to really enjoy your own creativity, practice & peers
- an understanding of movement science & pain science(more rare than you would hope in yoga land!)
- ways to weave yoga philosophy into your classes- the philosophy is integral to the course
- support to create your bespoke offerings and actually earn from your work.

We start May 7th. Recordings are also available.

PARTIAL BURSARY PLACE- I offer discounted places for those who have been affected by racism, and are on low income. I aim to broaden access to yoga with my work. Those applying with a bursary do not need the full deposit. Comment or DM me for info. Bursary is usually between 20-50% off plus payment plan. 💜

You don’t need a gym. You don’t even necessarily need weights in the beginning at least! You don’t need to worry about perfect alignment or “correct” movement.

ANY movement is better than none! So worry less and move more! find ways to move that bring joy, and challenge yourself to get stronger.

This sequence can be MUCH easier if you are new to it.

Any amount of bending knees can be a “squat”
Downdog instead of handstand if that’s challenging
Whatever feels ok for you.

Now I see my mum struggling to move at all, or to agree to movement support I realise how important it is.

Here’s the simple strategy:

take six movements that you can do, but that feel challenging after x6-10 reps
in the beginning, it’s a good idea to pair a lower body and an upper body movement
When you get stronger, you could do a whole upperbody day or a whole lower body day

So Pair up your six movements, repeat movement a x 6 to 10 and movement B x 6 to 10. Do this three times.

Have a little break and move to the second pair…. That’s it!

do you have lots of energy left at the end? Do the whole thing through once more or choose a challenging dynamic movement as a closing sequence.

Yoga Teacher is here you’ll notice you could include any of these in your classes and especially for the menopausal women. I often add in something a bit more challenging in case they’re not doing strength training!!

Any questions let me know.
