Shelley Peterson Counselling

Shelley Peterson Counselling Person-centred counsellor in Bristol - working with a wide range of clients.

You can be tempted to think that the ‘stuff’ you carry around on your journey through life doesn’t really matter. You may think that everyone has things to deal with, and that you just need to get-on-with-it. The truth is that if your past is influencing your life today, and seems likely to inhibit your future, then it does matter. Taking the time to reflect on your past experience is where counselling, and my approach to it, can help.

We're hearing that people who were bereaved before the pandemic are experiencing additional distress as the new life they were beginning to carve out for themselves has had to be put on hold.

The strategies for coping without their loved one that had been put in place invariably included socialising, joining new groups and building their support network. The pandemic has created an additional loss and for many, a sense of going backwards in their grief rather than forwards.
We've created a page on our website with resources and guidance should you need it at https://www.stpetershospice.org.uk/bereavement

Also, if you would like support in your bereavement and your loved one was known to the hospice, please call our bereavement line on 0117 915 9454 and leave a message. Someone will return your call the same day during the hours of 8am and 4pm, Monday-Friday (excluding Bank Holidays).

If you find yourself in a state of distress and would like to speak with someone, please call our advice line on 0117 915 9430. We're here to help 💙
