Square Food Foundation is 10 years old! As a registered charity, we use food and cooking to reduce hunger, improve health and bring people together.

Bristol's Cookery School & Community Kitchen, Square Food Foundation teaches adults and children of all ages, abilities and from all walks of life to cook good from scratch. We had so much fun on Friday night supporting the amazing and crew behind the scenes in the kitchen at Awards

Serving up an utterly delicious 3-course meal at this scale is no mean feat. We feel very proud to have played a small part alongside and their unstoppable team 👨‍🍳

Massive congratulations to all the legends, lesser-sung heroes and community leaders who keep this beautiful city alive. You fill us with hope for the future 🫶

📢 Are you looking for a new opportunity in 2026? Have you ever considered becoming a mentor?

👩‍🍳 We're looking for warm, supportive and encouraging people to mentor graduates of our How To Be A Chef programme. The free 12-week programme provides 16-25 year old's with the skills and experience to pursue a future in food. Learners receive hands-on tuition from our own expert cooking teachers, as well as sessions with some of Bristol's most inspiring chefs, restaurants and food producers. If you're:

🟨 Confident talking to young people
🟨 Committed to supporting young people to fulfil their potential
🟨Free to attend in person sessions at Square Food Foundation on Wednesday 1st April, 9.15am-1.30pm, and to meet the students (if you are matched with a mentee) on the 22nd April from 9.45am-1pm.

Mentoring requires the commitment to meet up once 1 month for a period of 9 months, in addition to some additional sessions for training and meet ups.

In March 2026, we’ll welcome another class of 16-25 year olds to the SFF kitchen, for our next How To Be A Chef course.

This 12-week programme is FREE and offers hands-on learning designed to build your cooking skills, confidence and kick start your career in the food industry.

Students will gain:

🟨 Experience working alongside professional chefs

🟨 Tailored support for their next step – whether that’s a job, apprenticeship or further training.

🟨 Delivered 3,160 meals through our Recipe Kit programme for families in South Bristol experiencing food insecurity.

🟨 Batch-cooked 400 meals for community freezers to be distributed by local food clubs.

🟨 Gifted 128 corporate volunteering hours

🟨 £6,250 towards food education programmes
