One of the first things families say to us is, “I’m just scared of getting it wrong.”

Not wrong in a dramatic way, but wrong in the everyday sense. Letting the wrong person into the house. Choosing someone who doesn’t quite fit. Agreeing to something and then feeling awkward or stuck because it doesn’t feel right.

That worry makes sense. You’re not choosing a product, you’re inviting someone into your home to support someone you love.

As a local introduction agency, we take time to understand what you need, then we introduce you to a self-employed carer who feels like a good fit.

When families ring us, we don’t jump straight into timetables. We talk things through first. We ask what’s been happening, what feels hard at the moment, and what you’re hoping support might help with. Sometimes people aren’t even sure what they need yet, they just know something has to change.

Because we’ve all worked as frontline carers in the past, we understand that a good match isn’t just about experience on paper. It’s about personality, pace, confidence, and how someone makes your loved one feel.

We don’t work from a list of names. We take time to get to know each of our self-employed carers, their experience, their availability, and the type of support they’re comfortable offering.

Our test is a simple one, would we be happy with this person supporting our own parent? If the answer isn’t a clear yes, we keep looking.

If you’re not sure where to start, ring us on 0117 9477422. We’ll listen first, then explain the next step. No pressure. Or if you’d rather message first, send us a Facebook message and we’ll get back to you.

If you’re a carer looking for daytime work, this could be a good fit.

Many carers tell us they want regular hours, familiar clients and enough time to do things properly, without feeling rushed from visit to visit.

• Work that fits around real life
• Support from people who care about doing things properly

When families first reach out, they often share the same worry - “Mum keeps saying she doesn’t want strangers in the house.”

Most families aren’t saying “no” to help. They’re saying, “I don’t want Mum to feel unsettled in her own home.”

And honestly, that makes complete sense.

Home is where routines live. It’s where the kettle goes on, the chair by the window stays the same, and things feel familiar. When someone new comes in, even someone kind, it can feel like too much.

That’s why we do introductions properly.

We’re a local care introduction agency, so we take time to understand what’s happening at home first. We’ll ask about the little things that matter, what Mum’s like on a good day, what worries her, what helps, and what tends to tip things the other way.

Then we introduce you to a self-employed carer who feels like a good fit.

So when care starts, it isn’t a stranger turning up. It’s someone your loved one has already met, with a clear plan for how the first visits will begin.

We keep it steady from the start. The same carer, at the same time, on the same day each week. No revolving door of faces.

If it helps, you can start small. The first visit can simply be about a cup of tea and a chat, getting used to a new face, and building trust. There’s no rush.

If you’re not sure where to start, you can read more about how we work here: https://www.your-careuk.co.uk/our-services/why-choose-your-care or ring us on 0117 9477422. We’ll listen first, then talk through the next step. No pressure.

You can also send us a message and we’ll get back to you.

Sometimes families don’t need a care home.
They just need a little more support during the week.

Over the past 12 years of supporting people living with dementia, we’ve seen how much difference that little bit of support can make.

Often when someone is struggling at home, we’ve suggested a day centre. A place where their loved one can spend the day safe, supported and socialising, while they get the chance to rest and recharge.

But so often families told us the same thing.

They loved the idea… they just couldn’t afford the extra cost.

And that’s always been incredibly hard to hear. Because sometimes a little extra support can make the difference between coping at home and feeling like the only option left is a care home.

It’s heartbreaking when families reach that point, especially when their loved one isn’t quite ready for that step yet.

So we started thinking.

If so many families are facing the same challenge, surely there must be a better way.

That’s why we decided to open the Your Care Dementia Day Centre.

A place designed to give families the support they’ve been telling us they need, without the cost becoming another barrier.

We’ve worked hard to keep the price as affordable as possible: £65 for a full six-hour day.

Because sometimes families don’t need a care home.

They just need a little more help to keep going.

Does your elderly parent have fragile skin?

If your mum, dad or loved one has fragile skin, you’ll know how heartbreaking it is when the smallest knock leaves a painful tear. Even brushing against a chair can cause bruising, and those little wounds can take weeks to heal.

That’s exactly why we’ve created a brand new free guide for local families:
“Protect Your Elderly Loved One From Painful Skin Tears.”

Inside, you’ll find simple, everyday ways to keep skin safer and stronger, including:
• Nutrition tips to support healthier, more resilient skin
• A daily moisturising routine that really makes a difference
• Easy home adjustments to prevent knocks
• How to spot small wounds early and what to do
• A printable daily checklist to help you stay on track

It’s practical. It’s reassuring.
And it’s been made with so much care, from our family to yours.

Most people hear the word independence and picture someone managing completely alone.

But in social care, independence means something very different.

It is not about refusing help.
It is not about struggling in silence.
And it certainly is not about proving you can still do everything you did at 40.

In social care, independence means having control.

Control over your choices.
Control over your routine.
Control over who supports you and how.

It means being supported to do things for yourself, not having them taken away from you.

True independence in later life looks like this:
1. Being asked what you want, not being told.
2. Being supported to stay in your own home in Bristol or South Gloucestershire.
3. Keeping your routines, your preferences and your dignity.
4. Having help with the parts that feel harder while still leading your own life.
5. Staying connected to your community, your hobbies and the people who matter.

Sometimes families delay seeking support because they worry it will reduce independence.

But the opposite is often true.

When support is introduced early and thoughtfully, it protects confidence.
It prevents crises.
It keeps people involved in their own decisions for longer.

Independence is not about doing everything alone.
It is about having the right support to keep living life your way.

We introduce families across Bristol and South Gloucestershire to carefully matched self employed carers who prioritise empowerment, inclusion and dignity.

If you are starting to think about support but want to protect your loved one’s independence, we are here for a friendly, no pressure chat.

🌟 Looking for trusted, personalised support at home? 🌟

Choosing care for a loved one is an important decision and it often comes at a time when things already feel emotional or overwhelming. That is why our approach is simple, gentle, and centred around what matters most to you and your family.

At Your Care, we take the time to understand your routines, your preferences, and the little details that bring comfort and familiarity. Our aim is to bring reassurance and calm from the very first conversation.

Here is how our process works:
1️⃣ Speak to one of our care experts
A relaxed, unhurried chat where we listen, guide, and help you explore the support available.
2️⃣ Book a telephone consultation
Together we look at what would help most at home, shaped completely around your loved one’s needs.
3️⃣ Meet your Personal Assistant
You meet your PA before any support begins, giving you confidence and reassurance that the match feels right.
4️⃣ Start seeing the benefits
With the right support in place, families often tell us they feel a weight has lifted. Life becomes calmer and more manageable again.

💚 What we can help with
Our Personal Assistants can support with a wide range of everyday tasks, including:
• Meal preparation and gentle nutritional support
• Help with morning and evening routines
• Light household tasks
• Support with dementia-related challenges
• Shopping, appointments, and getting out into the community
• Companionship and meaningful activities
• Encouragement to stay active at home
• A sense of safety, comfort, and familiar company

💙💛 World Down Syndrome Day | 21st March

Today is about celebrating people with Down syndrome and recognising the value they bring to our families and communities.

Down syndrome is a genetic condition that occurs when someone is born with an extra copy of chromosome 21. But a diagnosis never defines a person.

People with Down syndrome have their own personalities, strengths, ambitions and relationships, just like anyone else.

What makes the biggest difference in someone’s life is inclusion.
Being welcomed.
Being listened to.
Being given opportunity.
Being part of the community.

World Down Syndrome Day is a reminder to challenge outdated stereotypes, promote understanding, and celebrate ability.

Everyone deserves respect, friendship and the chance to live well. 💙💛

Dementia brings changes that can leave families confused and worried.

Repeating questions. Forgetting steps in familiar tasks. New habits that seem completely out of character.

These moments can feel overwhelming when no one has explained what they actually mean.

But the truth is, there are reasons behind these behaviours.

And once you understand the “why”, supporting your loved one becomes far easier and far less frightening.

Our book, After the Diagnosis: Your Guide to Living with Dementia, breaks down the early changes in a clear, simple way and gives you practical ways to help at home.

It’s the calm reassurance families need when they are trying to make sense of everything.

If you’re noticing new behaviours and you’re not sure what they mean, this guide will help you find clarity, confidence and a way forward.

Making a ‘Splash’ in home care!

At some time in our lives, we all need a little more help than usual. Perhaps you’ve injured yourself and your family live far away, or you are recovering from illness or have mobility issues. It’s so important, if you need outside help, to find an assistant or carer you can trust, and who can visit you when you need them.

Fortunately, Your Care understands the need for good, supportive carers. Your Care are a family owned and run agency based in North East Bristol, who can introduce you to carers and assistants who can help you with tasks which are perhaps not as manageable as they used to be.

Established in 2014, Your Care Home Support Services have been making a real difference to the way people live their lives.
