Coming back from an injury to normal every day life or back to being an Ironman the healing process is largely similar amongst us all
If you can understand the stages of recovery… you can help speed up the process
Rushing recovery before Mother Nature is ready can be detrimental to resolving the problem and slow you down further down the line

At MyPhysio we have a wealth of clinicians available to help you through all injury processes; right at the start we can advise and implement manual therapy/ electrotherapy and interventional exercise. We can advise on selective rest to keep you training and then progress you through each stage until you are back to full fitness

NEW CLINIC AVAILABLE

Are you suffering with FUNGAL NAILS?
Paul is doing a one off clinic on the 13th February for patients using the LACUNA method

This method is very advanced- it involves drilling tiny holes into the infected nail bed which allows the ant-fungal medication to pe*****te much deeper and more effectively than over the counter methods
The method isn’t painful but delivers amazing results for those stubborn fungal nails
We deliver it as a package for £160

Just book online for podiatry lacuna

This lovely lady’s haematoma dramatically reduced and resolved with the use of kinesiology tape ; and over the course of 10 days it completely disappeared and hamstrings back into normal function (via exercise and diligence)
Some people are really dubious about the evidence base and usage of kinesiology tape- but in the right context with the right patient (and physio guidance) it can be miraculous
Physio for all conditions available at www.myphysio.org.uk online

Neck Pain
Relief for next pain in the short term…

If you want to speed your recovery from neck pain, then see a healthcare professional who can reassure you with a diagnosis, advise and educate you about some simple exercises to perform. They will also give you some strategies to prevent the neck pain from coming back.

Joint mobilisation (‘stretching the joints’) may help with pain relief whilst you are recovering.

The important points for recovery are:

remaining as active as the pain allows,
taking simple painkillers if needed, and
advice from a healthcare professional.
If simple painkillers and staying active are not helpful, then other treatments may be recommended. If you have an ongoing neck problem, say more than three months, then research suggests that the most effective treatment is exercise.

In clinic this morning… a nasty slip coming out of the shower on Tuesday on a knee that already has a knee replacement
Luckily enough the hamstrings are still in tact and firing weakly but a nasty haematoma requiring treatment and rehab of the hamstrings is required
I’m going to see what the bruising looks like later this week after using kinesiology tape on it

Acupuncture….
Used for centuries by traditional Chinese medicine using the meridians yin and yang to alleviate pain; brought into westernised medicine for natural analgesia without the need for drugs with side effects

Chartered Physiotherapists have been allowed to use acupuncture as an adjunct for pain relief, arthritis, chronic pains, acute pains and sports injuries for decades and is heavily regulated for safety.

The use of acupuncture promotes a chemical response from the brain to the affected area - giving release of numerous chemicals associated with healing rushing to the area
After acupuncture it’s not uncommon to feel relaxed and calm and tired afterwards and it helps to drop the blood pressure also - so after acupuncture we advise eating within 30mins, drinking plenty of water and resting if necessary

If pain is a big issue then maybe acupuncture is a new idea to try…

In our team:- Mandy, Melanie, Kate, Lizzy and Laura all do acupuncture either as a standalone treatment or as part of a recovery programme ; at the normal rates (no extra charge)

Book online today

(Please note this photo was taken with explicit consent for SM post significantly before before new guidelines about use of acupuncture near the lung field was issued by the CSP)
