Expert Osteopathic Care with Barnes Stringer at Newent Osteopaths

Located in the heart of Newent, Gloucestershire, Newent Osteopaths is a renowned clinic dedicated to providing top-notch osteopathic care to individuals of all ages. One of the clinic's esteemed osteopaths is Barnes Stringer, a highly skilled practitioner with a passion for delivering exceptional patient care. With a strong background in structural osteopathy and dry needling, Barnes has established himself as a trusted expert in his field.

Barnes Stringer has been an integral part of the Newent Osteopaths team for five years, practicing at the clinic two days a week. During this time, he has developed a loyal patient base, thanks to his exceptional clinical skills, warm demeanor, and commitment to delivering personalized care.

_Structural Osteopathy: A Holistic Approach to Healthcare_

Barnes practices structural osteopathy, a approach that focuses on the intricate relationships between the body's structure and function. By using a range of techniques, including soft tissue manipulation, joint mobilization, and exercise prescription, Barnes helps patients to restore balance and harmony to their bodies, alleviating pain, improving mobility, and enhancing overall wellbeing.

_Dry Needling: A Effective Treatment for Pain Relief_

In addition to structural osteopathy, Barnes is also trained in dry needling, a highly effective treatment for pain relief. Dry needling involves the insertion of thin needles into specific areas of the body to stimulate healing, reduce inflammation, and relieve pain. Barnes often uses dry needling in conjunction with osteopathic techniques to achieve optimal results for his patients.

_What to Expect During a Treatment Session_

When visiting Barnes at Newent Osteopaths, patients can expect a thorough consultation and examination to identify the underlying causes of their symptoms. Barnes will then develop a personalized treatment plan, which may include a combination of osteopathic techniques, dry needling, and exercise prescription

Headaches can have a wide range of causes, including dehydration, hormonal changes, and trauma. One cause that osteopaths are qualified to help with is a problem in the neck. Headaches caused by issues with muscles, joints, or nerves in the neck are called cervicogenic headaches.

The first step in managing these headaches is to be sure of the cause. We expect symptoms to get worse when the neck is more irritated.

The exact treatment plan will depend on the structure in the neck that is causing the pain. Often this is a combination of muscle tension and joint irritation. Where appropriate, your osteopath can gently mobilise those joints, or manipulate (“click”) them if you’re comfortable to do so.

For more information please take a look at my website blogs on headaches, sciatica, arthritic pain and lower back pain, or call me on 07584 570348.

We often blame stress for a range of symptoms: gastric changes, skin problems, and poor mood to name a few. It can also play a role in aches and pains, due to causing muscular tension.

Other lifestyle factors can lead to tension, even when you’re not under stress. If work requires you to sit in one position all day, especially if you’re stuck at a desk, you might find that your body reacts with tension. We often see desk based patients who develop tension in their chest muscles and the back of the neck, as they hunch their shoulders forward and over compensate by extending their neck. Addressing the ergonomics at work can make a huge difference. We can offer advise for a more comfortable desk set up as part of your treatment plan.

Frozen shoulder is a specific condition characterised by gradually increasing pain, and loss of movement. Not all movements are affected.

Osteopaths are recognised as qualified to help manage a frozen shoulder. Evidence suggests that treatment can help to speed up the process. By working on the whole body, we may also be able to stop the other shoulder from taking on too much work. Frozen shoulder syndrome on one shoulder is not infrequently followed by the same problem on the other side within a few years of resolution.

Our story

I discovered osteopathy when I was treated for various aches and pains as a result of being a desk bound accountant and sportsman. I was so inspired that I decided to retrain and studied for 5 years at the British School of Osteopathy in London, leaving my family in Bristol. I am passionate about osteopathy and helping my clients feel better.

I am currently available at Penny Brohn, Ham Green, The Southville Clinic, Southville and Emerald Clinic in Evesham.
