Today, we’re saying farewell to a Nuffield Health Bristol Hospital Legend, as our wonderful receptionist Lesley is retiring after an incredible 35 years of service. 💐
Whether she was greeting patients at Main Reception or in Outpatients, or simply having lunch in the staff dining room, Lesley’s warmth and infectious laugh made every day brighter. At the Christmas Party last year, she was even voted our very own “Mrs Sunshine” at the staff awards! 🌞
Earlier, we celebrated Lesley with cake, coffee, and a witty anecdote or two from the lady herself during a special presentation. Her favourite part of the job? Helping people – especially those feeling nervous or upset before surgery. ❤️
Lesley says she’ll miss her colleagues most of all: “I like to work hard – but I also like to have fun while I’m working.”
From all of us at the Bristol Hospital, thank you, Lesley, and enjoy your well-earned retirement! 😊

October is Menopause Awareness Month.
Yesterday evening, we were delighted to host a GP education event here at Nuffield Health Bristol Hospital, entitled “Hot Topics in Menopause Care.”
The session brought together local GPs and healthcare professionals to explore the latest developments in menopause management - from evidence-based treatments to holistic approaches that support women’s wellbeing during this important life stage.
A big thank you to our guest speaker, consultant gynaecologist Dr Jo Bailey, for sharing her expertise, and to all the GPs who joined us for an engaging and insightful evening dedicated to improving menopause care in our community. 💜
If you would like to book a consultation with Dr Bailey, call our Enquiries team on 0117 906 4870, or visit our website, where you can also book online: www.nuffieldhealth.com/hospitals/bristol/consultants

This week has been International Housekeeping Appreciation Week. 🌟
We want to take a moment to recognise and thank our incredible housekeeping team. Their dedication ensures that Nuffield Health Bristol Hospital remains a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for patients, families and staff every single day. The vital role they play in infection prevention, comfort, and care cannot be overstated - they truly are at the heart of everything we do.
💚 To our housekeeping team: thank you for your hard work, your attention to detail, and your commitment to excellence. Our hospital couldn't run without you!
Pictured is our Housekeeping Team Leader, Aggie (on the right), with just three of our housekeepers - Maria, Tracy and Karen, who work the morning shift - and our Facilities Manager, Gerri (left), who oversees not only our housekeeping team, but our porters too.

Today is World Physiotherapy Day, which takes place every year on 8 September to shine a spotlight on the huge contribution physiotherapists make to society, enabling people to be mobile, well, and independent. The theme this year, from World Physiotherapy, is healthy ageing, with a focused look at preventing frailty and falls.
We celebrated World Physiotherapy Day at Nuffield Health Bristol Hospital a little early, on Friday, when our fantastic team of physiotherapists were treated to cake and cookies to acknowledge all the brilliant work they do for our patients. Pictured are Hayley, Natalie, Dario, Emily, manager Andrea, Charlotte, and administrator Sarah, who - along with Katie, Claire, Emma, Peter, Gail, Mia, Tom, Fiona, Amy, Anthony, Aaron, Simon and Ellie (who aren't pictured) - offer a range of physiotherapy services, not only at the hospital but also at our gyms in Clifton and Stoke Gifford. Thank you, team!
If you'd like to book a physio appointment with us, call 0117 9064887, or visit www.nuffieldhealth.com/physiotherapy/bristol to find out more.

Imagine feeling in control of your health. That's the aim of Nuffield Health's in-depth health assessments, which focus on preventative health. Through several different lifestyle, medical and non-invasive tests, our health assessments allow you to understand how to take control of your health – discussing potential issues while also reinforcing good behaviours. Furthermore, our friends on the Primary Care team at the Nuffield Health Fitness & Wellbeing Gym in Clifton were recently rated as 'Outstanding' in their Quality Assessment Review, achieving a score of 96%. Well done to clinic manager Tom and the rest of the team on this excellent result!

Our Story

Nuffield Health Bristol Hospital opened in 1961 and is an established part of the local community. The recently opened Chesterfield Hospital brings patient service to a new level. We have invested £20 million in our 30 bed hospital which has 3 digital theatres and a critical care unit with the very latest technology. Clifton Court, originally built in 1742, is the centrepiece of The Chesterfield Hospital, which has been part of the Nuffield Health family since 1961. Whilst retaining and restoring the historic Grade II listed building itself, we have built an entirely new hospital on the site, combining leading-edge clinical facilities with an outstanding customer experience.
