This recognition from the National Joint Registry (NJR) highlights our commitment to patient safety and excellence in data quality standards.
Thank you to our amazing Theatre admin team - Allison, Leah and Emily - for ensuring we meet the highest standards in supporting the NJR’s mission.
✅ Gold Level means we’ve achieved the top tier in compliance with NJR’s mandatory data submission quality audit process - and we're the only private hospital in Bristol to achieve this award for the last three years.

It’s officially flu season! 🤒
Our Hospital Director, David, recently led by example and received his flu vaccination - and we’re proud to offer the same protection to all of our staff. 🩺💉
Getting vaccinated helps safeguard ourselves, our colleagues, and the patients who rely on us every day. A healthy team means safer care for everyone.
Thank you to our brilliant Infection Prevention Co-ordinator, Janice, for leading our annual flu vaccination programme, with support this year from pharmacist Ma**ca!

On Sunday, Nuffield Health Bristol Hospital proudly hosted our 2025 Orthopaedic Symposium. We welcomed 55 local physiotherapists, osteopaths and chiropractors to the hospital for a full day dedicated to MSK-related learning and professional development.
Throughout the day, six of our consultant orthopaedic surgeons delivered sessions covering hips and knees, spinal surgery, foot and ankle, and shoulders, sharing their expertise with delegates from across the region.
A special thank you goes to our Sodexo UK & Ireland kitchen team, who kept everyone well fuelled with breakfast on arrival, a delicious lunch, and cookies during the mid-morning coffee break.
We’re delighted with the overwhelmingly positive feedback we received, and we’re already looking forward to hosting similar events in the future.

Today, we’re saying farewell to a Nuffield Health Bristol Hospital Legend, as our wonderful receptionist Lesley is retiring after an incredible 35 years of service. 💐
Whether she was greeting patients at Main Reception or in Outpatients, or simply having lunch in the staff dining room, Lesley’s warmth and infectious laugh made every day brighter. At the Christmas Party last year, she was even voted our very own “Mrs Sunshine” at the staff awards! 🌞
Earlier, we celebrated Lesley with cake, coffee, and a witty anecdote or two from the lady herself during a special presentation. Her favourite part of the job? Helping people – especially those feeling nervous or upset before surgery. ❤️
Lesley says she’ll miss her colleagues most of all: “I like to work hard – but I also like to have fun while I’m working.”
From all of us at the Bristol Hospital, thank you, Lesley, and enjoy your well-earned retirement! 😊

October is Menopause Awareness Month.
Yesterday evening, we were delighted to host a GP education event here at Nuffield Health Bristol Hospital, entitled “Hot Topics in Menopause Care.”
The session brought together local GPs and healthcare professionals to explore the latest developments in menopause management - from evidence-based treatments to holistic approaches that support women’s wellbeing during this important life stage.
A big thank you to our guest speaker, consultant gynaecologist Dr Jo Bailey, for sharing her expertise, and to all the GPs who joined us for an engaging and insightful evening dedicated to improving menopause care in our community. 💜

📅 Join us on Saturday 11 & Sunday 12 October at Nuffield Health Bristol Hospital, where we’ll be showcasing the work of talented local artists inside our beautiful Grade II listed Georgian villa – the site of the original Chesterfield Hospital.

Our Story

Nuffield Health Bristol Hospital opened in 1961 and is an established part of the local community. The recently opened Chesterfield Hospital brings patient service to a new level. We have invested £20 million in our 30 bed hospital which has 3 digital theatres and a critical care unit with the very latest technology. Clifton Court, originally built in 1742, is the centrepiece of The Chesterfield Hospital, which has been part of the Nuffield Health family since 1961. Whilst retaining and restoring the historic Grade II listed building itself, we have built an entirely new hospital on the site, combining leading-edge clinical facilities with an outstanding customer experience.
