What a day on the court! 🏀🔥
A few of members of the Nuffield Health Bristol Hospital team recently joined the sensational Bristol Flyers for an amazing sponsors' basketball tournament, which showcased a wide range of talent, enthusiasm, and some very questionable layups...
The standout moment was being coached by the Flyers themselves. Their coach for the evening was forward Zach Anderson whose skill, energy, and calm encouragement made our guys feel like pros - even if they didn’t always look like them. Zach only recently made the move to join the Flyers as a rookie after his time at George Mason University in the US, bringing his sharp shooting and scoring ability straight into the Bristol lineup.
Events like this really highlight the importance of strong partnerships. They bring people together, build community, and create opportunities to learn from incredibly talented pros like the Flyers’ squad.
Huge thanks to the Bristol Flyers - and especially Coach Zach! - for hosting such an unforgettable event. And of course to the incredible Nuffield team; Tamsyn, Millie, Seran, Chloe, Macy, Katie and Dario. They’re already looking forward to the rematch… once they’ve recovered!

It's Radiation Safety Week ☢️ and here at Nuffield Health Bristol Hospital, our brilliant Radiology team have been raising awareness around radiation safety with quizzes for the wider Hospital staff, as well as inviting anybody along to the department who'd like to find out more. It's a busy and exciting time for our Radiology department, with the installation of new MRI and CT scanners over the coming months, but we were still able to pin down three of our radiographers - Jorge, Zainab and Bria - for a photo!

Today, we’re delighted to recognise Eva, our amazing Director of Clinical Services, as she celebrates 10 years with us at Nuffield Health Bristol Hospital. 🎉
Eva - pictured here with our Hospital Director, David - first joined our team as Ward Sister, quickly becoming known for her compassion, professionalism, and commitment to delivering exceptional patient care. Her leadership skills shone through, and after a few years, she was promoted to Ward Manager, where she continued to inspire those around her and drive positive change.
In 2023, Eva stepped into the role of Director of Clinical Services (formerly known as Hospital Matron), bringing her experience, passion, and dedication to a role that shapes the future of our clinical teams and the quality of care we provide every day.
✨ Eva, thank you for a decade of excellence, leadership, and unwavering commitment to our patients and staff. We’re incredibly grateful for all you’ve achieved - and excited for all that lies ahead.

We were delighted to welcome Nuffield Health CEO, Alex Perry, to the Bristol Hospital yesterday, for a full and inspiring morning with our teams.
The visit started with a catch‑up with our Hospital Director, David, followed by a tour of the site, where Alex met colleagues across every department. It was a great opportunity to highlight the hard work done throughout the hospital and for teams to share their insights and achievements. 👏
Alex then hosted a Town Hall‑style Q&A session with team members from across the hospital. Thank you to everyone who joined in - there were thoughtful questions, open conversations, and brilliant energy in the room. 💬✨
After lunch, Alex continued the day with visits to the Nuffield Health and Nuffield Health gyms to meet more of our amazing colleagues.
A huge thank you to Alex for spending the day with us - it was wonderful to connect, share our work, and showcase the dedication of our Bristol teams. 💚

🎉 It's our first Feedback Friday of 2026! 🎉
We wanted to share a wonderful piece of feedback we received this week from a patient who recently stayed with us for knee surgery. Her thoughtful, hand-written letter meant so much to our team.
She praised everyone involved in her care, and shared how the experience exceeded her expectations. She also wrote personal thank‑you letters to two of our fantastic nurses, Eleni and Josie, and gave a special mention to nurse Jack for making her smile during her stay. 🌟
We’re incredibly proud of our team here at Nuffield Health Bristol Hospital. Their expertise, dedication and kindness continue to make a real difference to our patients every day.

We may not have taken home an award this time, but we were delighted to be nominated for a 2025 Nuffield Health Excellence Award!
Representing our fantastic Bristol team at Tuesday’s awards ceremony in London, were Physiotherapy Manager Andrea, Hospital Director David, Ward Manager Sophie, Patient Services Manager Katie, Marketing Executive Simon, and Director of Clinical Services Eva. We're incredibly proud of everyone’s hard work and dedication. 💚
A huge congratulations to all the winners, and a big thank you to everyone involved in organising such a brilliant event.

Last Thursday we were delighted to host our annual staff Christmas lunch, bringing colleagues together to celebrate the festive season and enjoy a well-earned break. 🎄
Adding to the occasion, lunches were served by our Hospital Director, David, and members of the Senior Management Team, a gesture that was greatly appreciated by staff.
Thank you to our Sodexo UK & Ireland kitchen team for their hard work, dedication and delicious food that made the lunch such a success. 🍽️👏
Thank you also to everyone who joined us from across all departments in the Hospital, and helped make it a great occasion.

Yesterday we said goodbye to Janice, our amazing Infection Prevention Co-ordinator, as she retired after 44 years in nursing – including 19 years with Nuffield Health here in Bristol. 💐
Janice has been the driving force behind our annual flu vaccination campaign and guided us through some of the toughest times, including COVID lockdown. 😷 She also organised visits to local primary schools, educating the children on the importance of good hand hygiene. 🙌
Before leaving, Janice shared this message with the team: “After 44 years of nursing, I’m looking forward to spending more time with my nearest and dearest, including my three grandchildren. My time at Bristol has certainly been interesting, especially since taking on the infection prevention role, and then going into COVID lockdown – which seems a lifetime ago now. I shall miss you all – although I’m not so sure around flu vaccination time.”
We’ll miss you too, Janice! 💚 Wishing you a wonderful retirement.

Our Story

Nuffield Health Bristol Hospital opened in 1961 and is an established part of the local community. The recently opened Chesterfield Hospital brings patient service to a new level. We have invested £20 million in our 30 bed hospital which has 3 digital theatres and a critical care unit with the very latest technology. Clifton Court, originally built in 1742, is the centrepiece of The Chesterfield Hospital, which has been part of the Nuffield Health family since 1961. Whilst retaining and restoring the historic Grade II listed building itself, we have built an entirely new hospital on the site, combining leading-edge clinical facilities with an outstanding customer experience.
