Surprise, calmness and laughter were some of the reactions I had when I did some hypnosis tasters on the local high street as part of the May Day celebrations. .

The same reactions happen in sessions.

๐Ÿ˜ฎ Surprise is a natural response when you experience hypnosis for the first time. However much research you do, experiencing it yourself is special.

๐Ÿ˜Š The feeling of calmness is a result of the suggestions I've given and is enjoyable to everyone but also a real relief to people who have been experiencing a lot of stress and strong emotions.

๐Ÿ˜‚ And some people laugh. Sometimes as an emotional release and other times (especially if we are doing fun hypnosis) at the silliness of their response. Earlier in the week I saw one client who always laughs in their session. That's when they know it's working for them.

If you've never experienced hypnosis and would like to experience a short taster get in touch.

๐Ÿ“Œ Hypnotherapist's Travel Guide to Bristol: John Wesley's New Room

The New Room is the oldest Methodist chapel in the world and a beautiful building. Although it's right in the middle of Broadmead shopping centre it is a peaceful place to visit whether you want to find out more about the history of John Wesley (a fascinating person) and Methodism, enjoy the architecture or attend one of the services.

As well as writing lots of religious texts, John Wesley was also a keen promoter of health and wrote a "Primitive Physick" which contained simple remedies. You can see the family's rooms above the chapel.

Of course if you have a fear of medical procedures or don't like taking medications then you might not enjoy that part of the building as much. But hypnotherapy is a good way to help to reduce that anxiety so you can look after your health in the best way. I usually recommend a couple of sessions and also teach some self hypnosis techniques that you can use to keep on top of the fear afterwards.

A study into people's attitudes about hypnosis found that people are more likely to be interested in hypnosis if they think it is pleasant or fun.

Everyoneโ€ฆ. ๐Ÿ‘‰๐Ÿฟ Hypnosis is pleasant and can be fun !! ๐Ÿ‘ˆ๐Ÿฟ

๐Ÿ˜Š If you're doing it for pure relaxation it is very pleasant and leaves you feeling good.
๐Ÿ˜‚ If you're doing it purely for discovery and enjoyment it is fun
๐Ÿ˜Š If you doing it to address an issue then you might be dealing with some less enjoyable emotions initially but you don't end up being stuck in those emotions. Hypnosis can lighten them and leave you feeling good.

๐Ÿ“Œ Hypnotherapist's Travel Guide to Bristol: Jack in the Green on May Day

Today's recommendation is a historic May Day celebration. Jack in the Green is a tall figure covered in greenery who dances through the streets, accompanied by people playing instruments and dancing. The procession starts in the Harbourside and ends up on Horfield Common where Jack is killed to release the spirit of summer.

This year it is happening on Sat 2nd May.

Some of the traders on Glos Rd Central join in with the celebrations. I will be joining other therapists at Osna (no 222) where we will be giving taster sessions -
hypnosis, EFT, massage and reiki. If you're in the area why not treat yourself. It's a great opportunity to try them out or enjoy them again. It's always a fun day.

You can find the Jack route information at https://www.bristoljack.info

๐Ÿ—บ Hypnotherapist's Travel Guide to Bristol: Bristol from the water

Seeing the city from the water on a Bristol Community Ferry Boats is a relaxing way to see both the old and new architecture in the harbour. Some of the buildings will have been there when it was a busy port and others have been built to replace old ones that were bombed or removed for other reasons. You can take a harbour tour or use the boat as a ferry and get off to visit some of the sights along the way - SS Great Britain and the Matthew, St Mary Redcliffe, Castle Park, Temple Meads and Netham Lock.

Of course not everyone likes being in a boat. If you have a phobia of water or boats then have a session with me first so you can enjoy this lovely way to experience Bristol.

How often do you look up and watch the clouds floating by or birds flying past? How often do you look up at the upper stories of buildings? Looking up is a simple way to improve your mood and your posture.

Today is Look Up At The Sky Day but it's a good thing to do every day.
Lift your eyes, lift your mood.

April 11th is World Parkinsons's Day. Hypnotherapy isn't a cure for Parkinson's but there are some ways that hypnotherapy can help to address various symptoms that are a result of the disease. These include

๐Ÿ”ฝ reducing pain, fear, anxiety or shakiness
๐Ÿ”ผ improving confidence and sleep

If you would like help with any of those issues please get in touch as I have a ยฃ20 discount on sessions related to Parkinson's this month.

๐Ÿ“Œ Hypnotherapist's Travel Guide to Bristol: Spider Hunting in Clifton Village

Today's recommendation of Bristol places to visit is slightly different as it's an event rather than a landmark. The event is a spider hunt on April 26th in Clifton.

Spiders are the second most "popular" phobia clients come for help with (flying is #1). If you use hypnotherapy to overcome a fear of spiders that doesn't mean that you are expected to pick them up - or even go hunting them! The ideal outcome is that you can remain calm if you see one and respond in the same way you would if you saw a small creature that you feel OK around - maybe a ladybird or a caterpillar.

While you're in the area you can of course also enjoy Clifton Village which has elegant Georgian architecture and some lovely independent shops.

If you want any more info about the spider hunt and you do currently have a fear of spiders then I'd avoid looking on social media for it as you're likely to see pictures of spiders. Instead, email bristolspiders@gmail.com (and maybe get in touch with me too ๐Ÿ˜‰)

If you don't mind spiders - full details at
