We are delighted to announce that our MD, Ed Rogers has been admitted into The Churchill Fellowship for his work in Braille literacy.
"I was invited by the Churchill Fellowship to travel to Southern India to research how Braille was taught and investigate Indian Braille inventions, to bring knowledge back to our blind communities in the UK.
Five years later and in a partnership between the Churchill Foundation, The Braillists Foundation, Bristol Braille Technology, and Indian organisations like the Worth Trust, my colleagues and I are pleased to have made huge strides towards improving Braille learning in the country and around the world.
The Braillists are running online Braille for Beginners classes attended by hundreds and received free Braille reading learning material in the post. Bristol Braille has invented, manufactured and is now selling Canute 360, the world's first affordable and multiline Braille display. And we are now trialling vocational learning for blind adults with the Ufi, and a Braille games console for pre- and early-Braille learning.
I was honoured to be admitted into the Churchill Fellowship on Tuesday. I hope this improves recognition of the tireless work many people all over the country are doing every day to promote Braille literacy."
