It's International Women’s Day 2026 🌍

Today, we recognise and celebrate the incredible women who make a difference across our organisation, our industry, and our wider community.

From leadership and strategy to client support and innovation, the contributions of women across the veterinary profession continue to shape a stronger, more progressive future for our sector. Their expertise, dedication, and resilience play a vital role in driving positive change and delivering high-quality care.

At PVA, we are proud to work alongside talented women across our teams and partner practices, and we remain committed to supporting an environment where everyone has the opportunity to grow, lead, and succeed.

As Spring slowly approaches, shifts in the temperature and environment can influence parasite activity. For practices, this provides an important opportunity to review preventative conversations with clients and encourage appropriate health checks.

Rather than a one-size-fits-all approach, seasonal moments allow veterinary teams to assess individual patient risk, discuss lifestyle factors, and tailor preventative recommendations accordingly.

Structured preventative care programmes can support these discussions by keeping communication consistent, prompting timely reviews, and ensuring clients remain engaged with their pet’s health throughout the year.

Annual health checks and regular client touchpoints remain key in identifying risk early, providing evidence-based guidance, and supporting informed decision-making.

Seasonal change is a reminder that preventative care works best when it’s proactive, considered, and personalised.

SPVS Congress 2026 - that’s a wrap!

Last week, the PVA team attended SPVS Congress 2026, joining veterinary professionals and practice leaders from across the UK to discuss the challenges and opportunities shaping the profession.

Across the two days, conversations focused on practice sustainability, client engagement, and the evolving role of preventative care in supporting long-term health outcomes. SPVS once again proved to be a valuable forum for sharing ideas, learning from peers, and exchanging practical insights that can be applied back in practice.

Thank you to everyone who took the time to speak with us and we look forward to continuing the conversations beyond the congress.

It's 💙

Today we’re celebrating the pets who are always by our side, whether they’re keeping us company during the working day, encouraging us out for a walk, or patiently waiting for dinner time.

Our team’s pets are a huge part of our lives, bringing comfort, laughter, and plenty of personality into our homes. This collage is a snapshot of the much-loved companions who make every day that little bit brighter for the PVA team.

We're so happy to have them as members of the Pets of PVA family!

What can you do to grow your pet health plan?

Growing a successful pet health plan takes more than simply having one in place. It requires ongoing focus, clear communication, and consistent engagement from the entire practice team. Taking time to review how your plan is positioned and supported can unlock new opportunities for growth and improved client uptake.

Here are some practical ways to strengthen and expand your pet health plan within your practice:

✅ Keep your team informed
✅ Promote your plan consistently
✅ Make the plan easy to explain
✅ Use marketing effectively
✅ Review and refine regularly

A well-supported pet health plan helps build stronger client relationships, improves compliance with preventative care, and contributes to long-term practice sustainability. Small, consistent actions can make a big difference to your plan’s success.

February is Pet Dental Health Month 🦷🐾

Oral health remains a key component of preventative care, yet dental disease continues to be one of the most common conditions seen in companion animals. Pet Dental Health Month provides an important opportunity for practices to raise awareness around the role of good dental hygiene in supporting long-term health outcomes.

Routine dental assessments and annual veterinary examinations allow early identification of periodontal disease, pain, and infection, in turn helping to reduce the risk of more complex systemic issues affecting organs such as the heart and kidneys.

Pet health plans often include dental checks as an important part of the plan's annual or 6-month examinations.

Meet Winnie 🐾

This gorgeous black Labrador belongs to Lindsay Danby, our Business Relationship Manager.

Winnie is a true Labrador through and through. She is always ready for an adventure, highly motivated by treats, and never far from her favourite people. Whether she’s out on a long walk or enjoying some well-earned downtime, Winnie brings plenty of joy (and wagging tails) wherever she goes.

A very good girl and a much-loved member of the Pets Of PVA family 💛

That’s a wrap on VMX 2026! 🇺🇸

Last week, Andrew Carter and Gerrard Harkins represented PVA at the VMX 2026 Congress - a key event that brings together veterinary professionals, innovators, and leaders from around the world.

From conversations around the future of preventative care to insights on strengthening practice sustainability, VMX once again highlighted the passion and innovation driving our sector forward. We had the opportunity to connect with industry leaders, explore emerging trends, and share how PVA continues to support practices in delivering accessible, high-quality care.

A huge thank you to everyone who stopped to chat, exchanged ideas, or shared their experiences. Events like VMX remind us how collaboration can shape the future of veterinary care.

Until next year, VMX! 👋🐾
