We're excited to share that the Aspen Psychology Services online CPD programme for 2026-27 is now live!

Six full-day workshops, each grounded in evidence-based coaching psychology, running throughout the academic year:

📅 Coaching Foundations — 8 October 2026
📅 Solution-Focused Coaching — 26 November 2026
📅 Coaching for Resilience — 26 January 2027
📅 Coaching for Change — 11 March 2027
📅 Coaching for Wellbeing — 13 May 2027
📅 Coaching Ethics & Supervision — 10 June 2027

All workshops run 9:30am–4:30pm online via Zoom, at £150 each — with discounts for booking more than one (two for £280, three for £400, all six for £775).

Workshops are designed for coaches, psychologists, education professionals, and anyone in a helping role looking to add practical, psychology-informed tools to their practice.

Each workshop is ISCP-Approved and counts towards the ISCP Accreditation pathway (should you be following, or wish to follow that optional route to accreditation).

COACHING PSYCHOLOGY INTEREST GROUP (CPIG)

We're also running our free Coaching Psychology Interest Group three times in 26-27 to support people with an interest in coaching psychology to connect, share, practice and learn together. CPIG is open to anyone with an interest in coaching psychology, with tasks scaffolded so that no prior attendance, training or experience is required. People at all stages of your coaching/coaching psychology development journey welcome.

Something I wrote this week seems to be resonating with people.

It started with a moment on a football show that genuinely moved me. Thierry Henry, in front of millions of viewers, told his colleague Micah Richards: “You are in my hero bracket” — not for his achievements, but for how he faced suffering. Micah spoke openly about his battle with depression and alcohol, and what helped him find his way through.

I wrote about that moment — and what it says about masculinity – because I think such positive role models are becoming ever more important, especially at a time when the so-called ‘manosphere’ is reaching young men in enormous numbers with a very different message about life goals, gender roles, and what ‘success’ means.

This article is about what real strength actually looks like. And it’s about what I want for my son.

If this feels relevant to someone in your life — a young man, a parent, a teacher — please do share it.

BLOG: Facing Your Dragons

Today is a day of two days. It's , which also happens to be the same day as the (admittedly, perhaps more niche) third International Day . I've posted the links below if you want to find out more about those.

Anyway, with both of those themes in mind, today seems like a fitting day to share a blog article I wrote a couple of weeks ago but haven't got around to sharing yet. It's called 'Facing Your Dragons', which is a metaphor for a psychological and behavioural process that can help us at times of challenge or difficulty, or when experiencing emotional distress (e.g. anxiety).

If you want to, you can read it here:

Hope some of this is of interest or help.

Take care,

Mark

This short article re rethinking our approach to children’s mental health is worth reading every word of. Children's wellbeing and presentation is influenced by a complex interaction of a range of individual, familial, school and systemic factors, and - while there are cases in which it can be helpful - 'diagnosis' is not an exact science, and can, in some cases - as the research shows - be counterproductive. 👏 PsychEdMum & colleagues.
