Hands up perfectionists!

Whether you’re trying to be the best at your job, parenting, studying, hosting, cleaning, whatever it may be, perfectionism is holding you back.

Perfection is unattainable. It leaves is perpetually feeling like we are failing. It’s demoralising. It makes us feel low, it causes us anxiety, and it damages our self esteem.

Does this feel relatable?

What if we lowered the bar just a bit and aimed for good enough instead? What if you could accept yourself just as you are, trust that you are enough and give yourself a break from all the pressure you’ve been putting on yourself? Can you imagine how much lighter you would feel?

If you want to go on a journey to achieve this, give me a follow and watch this space, there’s some cool stuff brewing up over here!

Don’t set yourself up to fail!

Investing a bit of time in setting goals that really matter to you will boost your chances of succeeding!

Make sure you set goal you WANT to achieve, not a goal to just tick a box.

The Goal Getter workbook will help you go for what you want this year. It’s a structured workbook that I’ve made as a therapist, that helps you figure out what matters most to you, what motivates you and what trips you up! Once you’re clear on this, it walks you through an action plan to help you crack on with doing the doing.

Don’t pile all your refracting up just for the end of the year!

Daily reflections help you move through life with more awareness and intention.
⭐️ It helps us acknowledge what’s going well which boosts our confidence and self esteem.
🌱 And when things feel tricky, it helps us learn and develop do we feel we are growing rather than feeling stuck.

💭 Give these simple questions some thought at the end of each day and see how much you learn and grow.

It’s no secret that I love my work. But I love it the most now that I am achieving work-life balance.

I went through a tough time early in my career with a bereavement. I coped by throwing myself into work which is where I felt I had control and where I felt I had true worth.

Burnout made my loved ones concerned and they questioned whether I could or should continue on my career path. This just made me work even harder to prove to everyone that I could do it! It made me a workaholic.

I’ve learnt the importance of work-life balance the hard way. I empathise and relate to those of you struggling with stress, overwhelm and burnout. Those of you who feel you have no time in your life for yourselves. When you feel totally fried and frazzled, I get it. I know that feeling. And I know, personally and professionally, that there’s a lot we can do to move path this and find a more balanced version of you!

I work full time but read and travel more than ever before. I value my time outside of work and I’m selective about how I spend it.

If you’re looking to make yourself a priority, give me a follow and let’s get started! Whether from tips and videos on this page, my newsletter, 1:1 therapy or self-help resources, we can do awesome things together!

As a therapist, I won’t tell you what to do. I don’t give advice and I don’t claim to have all the answers.

What I will do is get to know you so we can work as a team to figure things out together. I support you to learn that you can find your own answers and solutions and feel empowered to improve your mental health and wellbeing.

Happy

I don’t know about you, but I really feel it if I’ve not had my 8 hours.

Here are 5 tops tips to help with this:

⏰ Stick to a fixed sleep routine, aiming to sleep & wake at the same time each day.

🧘🏽‍♀️ Move your body. Exercise helps us sleep faster & longer.

🖊️ Journal. If your mind wakes up when you want to switch off, try getting your thoughts out of your head and into a page.

🍷 Watch what you drink. Caffeine & alcohol both reduce sleep quality.

🌓 Limit screen time before bed. That blue light interferes with our body clock.

📣 We all need other people who get us.

🙄 Being a therapist in private practice can be lonely.

💛 Let’s normalise this and support each other.

⭐️ Become a Therapist Talk Time member and become part of an exclusive team!

How it works:

🗓️ A small and closed online group (6 max.) that runs for a year (because how else can we really commit and connect with each other?)

👋🏽 I will meet you 1:1 initially to say hello and find out what’s important to you.

🙌 We’ll have an introductory group session so we can all start getting to know each other.

🗣️ Then we’ll meet monthly for an hour. No strict agendas but a monthly theme that we can jointly decide on in advance.

☕️ We’ll have a weekly virtual tea/coffee break with no theme or agenda - just a good old chat!

Dates:

🗓️ Monthly therapy talk time: last Wednesday of the month from January (31st), 5-6pm.

☕️ Weekly coffee break: Fridays, 11.30am -12pm.

Membership: £80 per month.

💛 Being a therapist is tough. This is a non-clinical group (we focus enough on our clients!) for you to take time to look after and develop yourself in private practice.

🤩 With facilitation by me and support from other members, we can become a dream team!

🎉 Let’s make 2024 an awesome year for ourselves and private practice!

✉️ Drop me a DM if you’d like to become a member.

New year, new introduction post!

👋🏽 Hey there, I’m Meera!

🧠 I’m a CBT Therapist & mental health nurse. I have 10+ years of clinical experience and absolutely love what I do.

🍰 I’m also a pretty good baker!

📚 I love to read and always have at least two books on the go, one for work and development and one for leisure. At the moment these are:

1️⃣ The Body Keeps The Score by Bessel Van Der Kolk and 2️⃣ Black Butterflies by Priscilla Morris.

📖 I run where you can read wellbeing books with me and each month and share insights.

💛 Brighter Minds is my private practice where I offer 1:1 therapy and wellbeing workshops. My mission is to help you feel better.

📧 I think we have a long way to go with learning how we can improve our mental health and wellbeing. I send out a fortnightly newsletter with useful tips and blogs to help with this. Pop yourself on there (link in bio).

😃 It’s great to see you here and I hope my page is a positive space for you!

Let’s get 3D!

De-clutter
✍️ Your mind by emptying your thoughts on a page.
🧼 Your environment with a tidy up.

De-prioritise
✅ Your to do list by taking things off it instead of adding to it.
‼️ This way you only focus on what really matters.

De-stress
🕰️ your life by planning protected time for yourself to focus on your wellbeing.

I’m particularly excited by de-prioritising and having a much shorter to do list!

Which will you start with? Let me know!👇
